Tire rack now has them in 215/245 but the markup is incredible.

You can find 225/255 but you *really* have to search. I'd suggest going to a Firestone branch in person and having them show you the locations of the tires within 100 miles... then have them shipped to you, if you're really desperate.

I am not sure if I said this earlier but because I couldn’t find these, I ended up with A/S3+ and very happy with them.

Just put a set of the new Continental Extreme Contact Sport on the wife's car and love them. The grip in the rain is better than PSS. Ride is very similar to PSS. Cheaper than PSS. Way better than the DW it's replacing.

Tirerack has these tires back in stock for the sizes of 255/35R18, 225/40R18, and 215/40R18. There are expecting more 245/35R18 by nov. THey are also offering a $60 visa gift card on a set of 4 if you by them by the 12th. Just thought I would give everyone a heads up. I will be purchasing a set of four for sure just so I have them when my current set runs out.

That's an interesting comment considering the tests by tirerack show them being significantly worse than the PSS in the wet.

The Indy 500/RE003 is not a great wet steer tyre either. Just keep that in mind before you do anything enthusiastic in the wet.

Is anyone using these with the wider 225\255 setup? Really looking at these given the price point even though I've always loved my MPSS in the past

I run these in 225 up front. Not an issue. I doubt the 255 would be an issue either.

I did 265/35 in the rear with no issues. Not sure it helped any though. Cost wise, stick with the 255.

I am running those sizes and no issues what so ever. Have over 20K on them now and they are still awesome.

Has anyone run these in Auto-X or Track day? I have Potenza RE-71R now in square setup. I'm thinking of picking up a set of these for my stock dailys too.

How are people liking these? I'm about due for new tires and I'm trying to decide what to go with.

Has anyone noticed any difference in width - i.e. narrower vs. Pilot SuperSports? Any thoughts on how they compare?

I was so close to buying 18" ffi500's in 235/40 square, they have good rebates.
Especially since this year they have a 245/35/18 option that is produced in Japan.

After pricing out the competitors at 235/40 or more expensive 245/35 at this price range I got intrigued & bought Continental's new entry for General Tire brand the G-max RS in 235/40. Carefully considering the price premiums of 245's and my current ability & limits to run the 245 tire up front on 8.5 wheels. I will admit since its so new I was swayed some promo reviews that compared them to FFI500.

The RS is priced at the same level or cheaper for some sizes, because FFI promos win for larger sizes. This RS is suppose to last a little longer, be as good in the dry and slightly better in the wet. Also aesthetically the FFI looks better in wider sizes like 245+, so I chose the cheaper 235 tire hoping it is as close to an FFI as possible. They also have a nice rim protector lip like PSS.

Overall I will have more feedback, probably in 2nd half May when I mount them. So far I am impressed as RS are made in Portugal for this size and with how wide their shoulders seem compared to other non-PSS 235/40 summer tire (Barum) and 10mm less in size vs. a 255/35 all season (Pirelli) tires I have at hand in 18".

My goal is like most here replicate a similar experience of the FFI500 as it has been compared to a street driven PSS.
I had 225/255 PSS last for 4 summers before and a used set of 235/40 Barum for 1.5 that came with wheels.
I hope it works out.

My friend has the Firehawks on her GTI (Previously had PSS). I've noticed the Firehawks ride is rougher and the tire provides less feedback than the PSS. It sort of feels like a runflat but with exceptional grip. The edges are squared off like the PSS so it looks wide on the car.

I personally won't put them on my car cause I hated the rough ride of the runflat. But they are a great value if you don't mind a firm ride.

Old Thread, but I want to update it:

I run a 17x9 255 square track set-up on my 135i with ST XTA Coilovers and the Hotchkiss Sport Sways from Bimmerworld. I normally run Nitto NT01's and then a 225/255 set-up on the Firehawks on the street. Car has a track alignment of -2.8 camber front, maxed camber in rear (factory parts), and it lowered a little bit with 3/4" wedge.

A last minute track day came up at NJMP and I could only run part of the day, so I decided to just go and drive the Firehawks for comparison. 6 days later I was back with my NT01's. Here goes.

The Firehawks were pretty decent, especially for a cheap tire. They provided good grip for the first few laps and were very communicative by their audible noise under duress. Because they have so much LESS grip, I was always searching for a better line and Track Addict recorded 1.1g and above in most corners. This was really solid and very surprising. I didn't notice excessive wheel spin coming out of the corners, but the front end did push A LOT more than with my square set-up.

The camber definitely helped the tiny fronts and I ran my fastest lap of the day (1:42) with 34PSI hit. Tires barely look different than when I arrived, minus a small amount of shoulder rounding from the 4 sessions I did.

6 days later I was out on the same track again, it was a little warmer, and I did absolutely nothing to the car. I was able to run my personal best 1:38.5. Both days were with the Turn 3 chicane, then on the second day we ran the afternoon without where I found a 1.34.509 best time. So, there is like a 3-4 second a lap difference in the tires... but I don't think that's the full story.

The big problem with the e82 is front end grip. Those little 225's are just way undersized for the weight and speed of the car. I think running a square 255 set-up would have put me into the 1:40 range because confidence became an issue.

Would I call these track tires? No. Did they do a respectable job, yes! Surprisingly so. The track was also really slick Wednesday from torrential rain the night before, and although it dried, the track was very green.

I was running JB4 Map 2 and 5 (fastest lap was Map 5) with DCS on but TCS off on Wed on the Firehawks. My car is FBO with Wagner catted DP and Evo 2 Comp IC.

I came to this thread a while ago when my PSS RF wore out and I think the tires are an absolute NO-BRAINER for the money. You can even take them on the track, but mind your pressures and overheating them. You can learn a lot from a car with less grip, more so than one with excessive grip. Proven by setting my personal bests the following Monday on the NT01's (all day long).

^^^ Nice

I mostly just drive around town for work and errands taking the occasional corners and ramps pretty fast when no one's around and have loved the tires, noticeable improvement in grip over my Hankook Evo's I had previously. I wish I had G #'s or anything else to share but do feel comfortable telling anyone on the fence to go for it especially if your driving habits line up with mine.

Just put a set on. Felt good for the drive home from work. Sidewalls are stiff.

What tire pressures are people running? They put mine at 39 per the sticker. I might try a little less to see how they feel. Grip & ride are good but definitely firmer than the MPSS I had.

I run about 34 up front and 32 in the rear. Haven't really played with pressure to find a works best. I'm just looking for even ware across the face and that's what I get.

Drove them up & back to St. Augustine, FL. 2.5 hours each way over the holiday.

Definitely a stiff sidewall tire. They handled great. On the way back, 2.5 hours in mixed dry & wet road conditions.

They were good in the wet. Not quite the same confidence building feedback of the MPSS, but they seemed just as good and never missed a step.

I do get a bit more tramlining but I'm bringing it back in to adjust the alignment. Right now it's at the minimum spec toe F & R, and R camber. I'm planning to increase the rear camber and add a bit more toe-in up front.

Tire pressure seem high at 39. I plan to try 36/34 and see how they do.
