ActiveE hood pics

Weatherford BMW in Berkley has one, so I was fortunate to see the car in person. Personally, I would never retrofit the hood, regardless of cost or availability. Contrary to my expectation, it doesn\'t really have the look of the E9x M3 powerdome. IMO, it looks out of place.

If you\'re considering the mod, you may want to check it out directly before pulling the trigger.

I have been saying this same exact thing for months to people on the forums but they are just to stubborn to listen and want a cheap hood lol.

It's anything but cheap. It will be more expensive than any aftermarket hood and it will be VERY difficult to get if at all! I like the way it looks and it will look even better on the 1M. It's not about "trying to look like an M3". I had an M3, don't need/want to make my 1M look like and M3. I do think the 1M hood is a bit boring and the Active E hood does break up the big flat stock hood. I think it is a good route for us who want OEM quality and fit/finish!

Can someone photoshop the hood onto a 1M ?

Take more of the guesswork out of the equation.

A picture is worth a 1000 words. The closest thing to it is the IND project on the 1M.

I know that my friend He mentioned imagine, so that was just for close reference. It would be as big as the 2 black vents on the side of the dome.

Test drove the Active E today... I wouldn't put that hood on the 1M. The bulge was kind of annoying.

The BMW Active E is an experimental model. You cannot purchase an Active E as it is only available for lease only with BMW.

Every component in this case the Hood is exclusive to the Active E and is therefore individual to the car , you cannot order an Active E hood without having a VIN number and even if provided with one, because it is an experimental vehicle BMW will take an interest because they would want to examine how the car coped in a real-life crash, and will repair the car itself.

BMW will not sell you the Hood if you do not have an Active E.
It is the same regarding BMW M3 CSL , M3 GTS and M3 CRT they will not sell you parts if you do not have a VIN number and ownership of those vehicles.

If your dealer says he can get you one then he is either stupid or suicidal.

Come on Scott, I can't believe you actually believe people have been unable to buy CSL parts that didn't actually own the vehicle. There is so many E46 OEM CSL part in the U.S. it's not even funny. And now we are seeing some GTS as well. I still don't know why BMW cares about a customer purchasing this hood for their 1M. BMW themselves considered fitting it to the 1M as well until they felt "aerodynamics" became an issue(which I'm not inclined to believe is entirely true anyways)

Hey ///M1, why do you keep coming back to this thread and wasting your time on something you don't even like? You should maybe use that time to figure out the differences between an M1 and a 1M. lol

Actually, I've been contributing to this thread (apart from my opinion which I understand counts for nothing ), as the pics above you see were taken by me In actuality, I don't mind seeing someone put this on their 1///M. Will be different, heck, as long as they like it. I mean that Singapore dude with the hideous white 1M must like it, right? We sure have seen our share of 'questionable' mods here, this is no different, eye in the beholder gig.

As far as the 1M / M1, I actually got the handle well before the 1///M was even thought of, it was my way to provoke the M gods. Looks like I succeeded

The pictures are appreciated, but there is no way you can argue that the AE hood is the same as the infamous Singapore car. BTW, my 1M=M1 comment to you was kinda a joke, not meant to be taken seriously !

Nothing on the Internetz do I take seriously, so no issue there. And I think you took my comments seriously above, notice I ended with a smiley face for all the sensitive folks here. I am glad we all have divergence in views and opinions, because we chose mods differently, which in itself differentiates our cars (for better or for worse). And of course makes for fun conversations.

And I wasn't implying the 1///M with the Active-E hood is sauerkraut (something that can be clearly said about the Singha rice). It is goofy as hell on the Active-E, but that car has no bulging fenders or bulldog face, so yeah, I am all for someone to slap it on, even though I probably still won't like it, but it doesn't matter as it's not on my car

Arrow real life pics of the ActiveE hood...

Here are some pics of Stratus650 's ActiveE hood on his wrapped 1M. This car looks FANTASTIC in real life!!

One thing to note is how the inner's of the ActiveE hood is missing some of the cross bracing. This makes the hood lighter slightly, bc it must clear the ActiveE's (front)battery pack up under its hood.

Enjoy...
