Anyone know what's going on with Bilstein supply in NA??

I've been waiting for stock levels to be replenished since July, and can't seem to get a straight answer from anywhere on when B8s will be available again. Anyone bought Bilsteins recently?

I've been waiting forever it seems for a driver side front B8 strut (PN 35-115939).

I've been looking on eBay instead, but it's really hit and miss. I was able to get a B4 set, even tho I know that's not what you're looking for.

Lol. just poking fun of the generic bilstein -vs- koni variety. Doesn't matter, you have a specific target...

Straight question tho- how many miles on the other strut? Around 20k miles you want to consider replacing both. By 40k it's not a question any longer, you really should do both.

I'll see what I can find for b8 struts to help out, probably won't do any better tho

I'm sure this isn't so easy, probably be a "not available" email after checkout...

Others, Turner as an example, talking about mid-December for b8 struts

Haha - yea I figured. I'm surprised by the 40k number, I know Ohlins and other brands have a "lifetime" where they need rebuilding, I did not think this would be the case with the Bilsteins (or Konis for that matter). Both fronts needed replacement, I was lucky to find one in stock for the passenger side, and am waiting on the driver's side. I have 50K Kms on them so roughly 30K miles....the rears are doing just fine, only the fronts have an issue.

I was going to warranty them....I've had B8s on a previous car that lasted longer than this...

I'm curious if there is any literature that shows their recommended replacement life?

Here is not so much a recommended replacement age, rather is maintaining balance between left & right- general rule being to replace in pairs with, of course, a bit of leeway within the bounds of common sense.

Front left strut new and front right strut with 40K miles will behave/handle differently...

Yea agreed - I thought only one needed replacement but ordered both, I just got screwed with no stock on the driver side one but I still need to drive so I have to leave it as is until it is back in stock.

Yea, apparently one of their factories is severely backlogged as it moved locations or something - most of the BMW part numbers are back-ordered (and probably some others as well).

At least one distributor here is also going direct to Europe to get parts....I will probably end up going that route also.

Does that distributor have a shipment in route?

I should have bought both fronts at once lol I saw the passenger side on discount like a year or two ago and snagged it up. I should have done more investigating never thought this would be an issue.

No unfortunately, they only ship on order, they are not stocking any parts. So they told me it would take 3-4 weeks to bring it over.

I bought both at once, and supposedly there was only 1 passenger side strut left which I got. So pretty sure stock is depleted across the board in North America....
