Not sure if the M2 will be the same but the 2er hifi sucks. The HK is "ok", but inferior to the HK in the 3/4 series. If you want to get a m2 pure edition with decent sound, just install aftermarket amp and speakers.

But I like the fact that it is AWD especially when you WOT and there are no tyre slips! unlike the 1M even sometimes 3rd gear WOT tyre slips.
Yeah stock it sounds pretty damn good in that dirty 5 cylinder way. Heard a 1M with the HMS exhaust today and it sounded (IMO) way better than the RS3 - a much more highly strung tight sound - not the RS3 5 pot where you aren't sure if the car coming is a farm tractor or a car

Yeah, I hate seeing parts on other people's cars that you then love and have to have. I'm so tempted by the Awron dash gauge, but don't want to lose a dash vent (especially in the 40+ heat we've had recently).

Getting back on topic, I see 1M prices dropping in the short term as more come onto market from those trading into the M2, but it's such a special/iconic car that if it doesn't go up again in value, it at least will reach a bottom point where prices will remain steady.

The 1M represents the pinnacle of the N54 application and has great tuning potential. I don't see the N55 in the M2 touching a tuned 1M. Stock for stock, the M2 is undoubtedly a better car - 5 years of development SHOULD see to that. But I don't think that makes the 1M any less desirable - just older.

I'm keeping mine. But IF I ever sell, I can part out the HMS to you if you haven't dropped 5k already on one

I also think most cars would have been bought on a 3 year lease, hence the amount of cars for sale earlier this year. With the M2 coming out, we may see the highest influx of cars to the market next to early this year, so would probably be the time to buy.
I'm interested to see what happens in Q3.

The 1M isn't a collectable, an M3 CSL is.

Yeah, I think they're a special car and as you say the pinnacle of the N54. When BMW was still making pure cars too, hydraulic steering, 6 speed manual but with niceties like comfort access, HK stereo, adaptive lights etc and the very strong exterior styling with no expense spared M3 running gear. Few corners were cut with the 1M, they wanted to make the best 1er possible and that shows.

It remains to be seen how good the M2 really is, but from an aesthetic standpoint, it's already much tamer.

If you do sell, absolutely let me know and if I don't have one already I'll take the exhaust of your hands!

Yup. It's definitely the high water mark for me and I'm not sure we'll see something quite so 'pure' again, hence why mine won't be going anywhere anytime soon.

Yeah, I agree with this. Too many examples in OZ to be collectable. Maybe a super low kms example would be 'collectable' to a few people. But, the car is no doubt desirable, and this alone will ensure prices remain robust and drop at a slower rate.

E46 CSL prices today are around 100-120k, but brand new were 210k. So if a collectable can depreciate near 50%, the 1M certainly will drop a little more.

I would have to say in a year or two the 1M is going to be a collectors item. At one point this year you could pick one up for mid $60k and now they are all going for high $70k-$80k.

Depending on mileage. Now most cars has about 30-40k Mileage. and they are asking for $80k roughly.

But definitely agree that it will be a collector as it's Analog (1M) vs Digital (M2)

Disagree, there are 300 in aus, just too many thank you BMW. (It was supposed to be a 100 car number for aus, but events like the tsunami in Japan in '11 meant there were many more allocations given to aus).

The CSL, yep special and very collectible, only 23 cars came here, plus a few grey ones since.

RHD cars are allowed in the UK?

If yes, I wonder if the prices of the 1Ms in Oz are being held up as a hedge to the forex drop.
