US 1M Availability at MSRP?!?

On Monday, my brother sent me a picture of a 1M at a dealership in New Orleans, but the picture was too crappy for me to realize it was a 1M and it was available. I called the dealer this morning and it sold yesterday at MSRP.

Long story short, there still is hope for those seeking the 1M. The original buyer backed out and purchased a different car because he couldn't wait.
If you're still looking for a 1M, call as many dealers and get on their call list. I'm pretty sure similar cases like this may surface for the next few weeks. Not to stir things up, but beyond December I highly doubt there will be any 1Ms showing up at any US dealerships.

There will be no 1M's coming to the US after December.
BMW will not sell you a 2011 in year 2012 as a new car. Ever.
Keep looking at new cars on cars.com there are a few available at MSRP I believe but you better hurry.

That's not true. I've seen BMW sell last model year cars as new a lot of times. I'm pretty sure you will be able to find a 2011 car still on a lot somewhere after Dec 31st. At least I have seen it before.

I have contacted EVERY dealership that has a 1M on cars.com and only 4-5 dealerships have one for sale. And ALL but one (waiting to hear back from them on my offer) want $20k over MSRP and won't budge. Greedy bastards they are.

Please explain why not? Model year in the US is dictated by production date, so why would the arrival date on a dealer's lot make any difference? Inqiuiring minds would like to know.

One reason is the plant stopped making US Spec 1M late fall (Oct I think). Add in the ocean crossing for any produced and that means last US Spec 1M will hit our shores in December, maybe some west coast stragglers in Jan, but probably few and maybe only because of the Holidays

Another reason, is MY11 is done. Dealers are ordering MY12 cars, which as we know, doesn't exist for 1M. The only reason you see MY11 cars on lots in 2012 is they are cars that were ordered but didn't sell.

I am not a dealer, my humble $0.02 as a casual observer.

Delrin didn't answer my question to you, so I'm assuming your statement has no basis. US spec/left-hand drive 1Ms can still be produced, highly unlikely, and that's why BMWNA will not release official production numbers until January.

Just picked mine up Saturday and only paid MSRP. The sales manager at my dealer was able to get a hold of an already in production 1M and called at the beginning of November and asked me if I wanted it as he knew I wanted one. It had a production date of 10/26 according the the build sheet.

You were probably one of the very last 1Ms built for the US.
