Does BMW Professional Radio need CANBUS Optical Decoder module?

I was considering upgrading my stock radio on my non idrive car to an android auto head unit. There is an option to buy an add on optical CANBUS decoder unit - I am not sure whether my radio needs it.

The original multimedia options are:
S640 Preparation F Tel.Installation Universal
S645 BMW US Radio
S663 Radio BMW Professional
S676 HiFi Speaker System
S693 Preparation BMW Satellite Radio
S694 Provisions For BMW 6 CD Changer

I have the same setup and ordered an android radio and it does work without the optical adapter. I believe you only need that for a HK setup.
Now, I'm having my own issues (see thread) but I did not need an additional adapter.
