Waste-gate failure, upgrade? HELP?

Hi all,

Ive got a 2012 135i, dct, FBO (ETS hard charge pipe, ETS intercooler, wagner downpipe, bmw m exhaust) PWG turbo. Running a jb4. ~70,000 miles.
I have all the stuff for an mhd BEF but have not implemented it yet.

Today my indy bmw shop diagnosed a Waste-gate failure. Im told i need a new turbo and manifold.

Im told that stage 1 upgrades are not going to address the waste-gate issue.

So its stage 2 or buy a reman unit or? (Emphasis on the question mark)

Any advice on this? Im inclined to do a stage 2 if its cheaper than oem.

If I have to do a stage 2 Can i just run a jb4 with a BEF or do i need a custom tune? Do i need to upgrade fueling?

Please do educate me if im missing anything here

Your advice is appreciated.
Cheers!
