Bosch Quietcast Front Pads Clunking Noise

Hi All,
I've got a 2013 E88 135i convertible with the M-sport package. I changed the front pads yesterday with the Bosch Quietcast pads.

Now whenever I stop after going from reverse to forward and vice-versa, there's a loud clunking noise. I'm pretty certain this is the pads shifting in the calipers. I've experienced this before with older BMWs years ago, but this is pretty loud.

Anyone else experience this with the Bosch pads? Did I miss something on the install? I used the new shim/spring. Everything seemed pretty straightforward as far as brake pad replacement goes.

Thanks for any help!

I had the same issue with Akebono pads. They acknowledged that there was a mfg defect that they fixed, and they sent me new pads no questions asked. But the new pads still clunker, but much less.

You could email the mfg about the issue.

I'm running Powerstop carbon ceramic pads. Barely any dust, great street performance albeit less initial bite (and I prefer this vs. the overly-grabby stock pads) and zero clunks. Highly recommend these.

I would have figured that Bosch would do a better job in terms of manufacturing tolerances.

I'm thinking of trying to swap the old shims from the OEM pads onto the new Bosch pads. Any thoughts on that?

I had the same problem running Bosch QuietCast front brake pads on my 7th gen Honda Civic a few years ago. It drove me insane and I took the front wheels off and disassembled everything two or three times to no avail. Exact same symptoms as OP; after reversing, they would clunk.
