Just for information I have a 2011 135i built in early 2010. I defiantly have the base system but also have a n55 with dct.
ive had this in for 3 years now and never coded it, how much of a difference was it?

Is there a definitive answer on how to configure your car after upgrading the base stereo?

I've heard lots of different opinions, but most seem to say that you add the $676 ID to your Vehicle Order, the effect being a removed EQ and a reduced volume on the leads.

$676 is definitely the correct answer, but I was not able to code my 2010's base stereo via the CAN bus. It needed to be done via an ICOM adapter on the MOST bus. See here:

Looks like that would massively obstruct your view of the road, as well as being distracting as hell...

It's adjustable in both the horizontal and the vertical plane so you adjust it to where you want it .... but it wouldn't be any higher than most dash mounted screens.

I believe the photo is of an install in a pickup truck. 😉

I have fitted one to my Lotus Exige.
