Yeah, it's a wrap - not paint.

They were closed so I dont see how they had any function other than aesthetics. I feel I improved on that function.. it has more depth and a look/feel of craftsmanship.

I did the same thing on my 135 and what I noticed is I actually didnt have a build up of dust and dirt that was happening prior to the cut out. One drive in the M and the dust and dirt was building up in the crease of the "vent" I am hoping the opening will work as it did on the 135 and eliminate this problem.

If you mean by running some sort of duct then it would require a good amount of cutting of the white plastic behind it for the clearance of a duct. I dont know what you want to vent, if you can be more specific I can give you better feedback.

This is what the piece looks like removed. You can see the notches where the tabs hold it in place.

Also, I am attaching pics of both sides for those that are requesting for me to make them a set. I want everyone to see the passenger side has much more white plastic inside.

some mods don't make sense to me. why?! I don't see an improvement in looks OEM vs mesh, imagine those white plastic pieces getting dirty?

If you really dislike OEM plastics, paint over it to match the body, imho it would have been better...

Like the idea, dislike the white bumper supports that show when it's implemented.

The plastic insert looked cheap to me. Thats why.

Painting the insert body color will result in losing any contrast it provides. That is taking a step towards the Singapore white out.

IMO the mesh adds more depth and dimension to the look. Every high dollar car I have owned had a screen or a mesh over the openings or scoops. Maybe thats why I have grown accustomed to the look. The plastic insert looked cheap to me. Besides I dont want to be cleaning and polishing the little nook it creates.

Like I said I plan to paint the white or put in a black panel behind the mesh. I didnt know how much white was going to show when I started the thread. The passenger side wasnt done and thats the side with all the white.

Also realize I took these pics laying on the floor level with the openings. Standing up you see no white on the driver side, but as I have mentioned as you step further away you see less mesh and more opening. When I get a chance I will remove the bumper and either trim/paint the white or put in a black barrier.

Not the slightest difference in sound whilst driving ? An annoying whistling noise would be a pain of course (you know, the hollow sound of old Volvo cars).

I was going to say, how could you do that, just on principle lol.

That has to be one of the best looking wraps I've ever seen. Too bad you cant really tell how good a job the place did without being up close!

No, you wouldn't since vent doesn't extend through the wheel well liner.

Thx for not leaving us hanging on for the outdoor pics, you are a crowd pleaser! Looks good: this ended up on my optional mods list, might add air pressure punctures in the well at that point.

warning OT: OP do you wanna spill the beans on what mod you got going on around the missing roof-liners ... !?

So where would the 'real' vent extend to?

If it were a functional vent, it would duct air from inside the rear wheel well (where a hole would have to be cut into the liner) through the rear bumper cover.

As modified by Papethova, the faux vent in the rear bumper cover is replaced with a grid. I think it looks a whole lot better, but it doesn't vent from the wheel well.

How did you even spot that? I was wrapping the roof last month and the vinyl tore. I wrapped the rails put them in and when the new vinyl arrived I pulled them out to finish the wrap but got side tracked. Should have it all done by next week. A CF roof may be in the very very near future but for now a plain matte black wrap like I had on my 135 is what I want.

You really cant. Some angles slightly and close up obviously. When I first finished the mod and my face was still down there 2 inches from the openings I did have a slight regret but ONLY because I knew it was going to be a PITA to remove the rear bumper and black out all the white. Then I got up stepped back and realized you cant even tell. Plus those pics were with a flash.

Maybe functional will be next, Ill come back to this after I finish the other things on my list. I have parts piling up and not enough time to get everything done.
