Now that is clever..LOL. It would be highly inappropriate to have an M1 emblem underneath a HondaJet though.

I hope they don't wait until the last day of the show to unveil the M1. That would mean we have to wait more than 2 weeks!

If the car is first shown in Geneva does anybody think that it will tour like the Vision car? I would love to see it in person at NYIAS

Maybe they haven't been privy to the same info we have from Scott..? If they have than they are just being thick-headed for continuing to get butt hurt about ///M cars going turbo. Tell me what current ///M car has more promise than the ///M1? It's going to punish the others on a road course, sans maybe the GTS. Mark my words.

Don't fear change, it's inevitable. Be progressive or you'll be left in the dark. (so to speak)

Any idea if we could have more extensive options? Like power window/locks delete, A/C delete, for the love of go no idrive or nav, sunroof delete option (could have a cf roof with a sunroof = boo) and possibly euro cloth 2 tone sport seat? just options. Kind of like the idea of go big or go home and to each his own. I live in Fl and to not have an A/C might be crazy but then again that's just me. I'd love the option and i would check it off, plus less labor for bmw and parts.

All I really want is for a DRIVER/PURPOSE built car that has the stuff BMW dreams are made of. less techy and more road feel. I own an '85 6 series and man when u drive u feel like u are a part of the road. the feed back coming from the steering wheel, the seat, the shifter, and the cabin. Not harsh at all but very planted and very aware. add some stiffer bushings and firm up the chassis with feel. Make some things that are standard optional. Think e46 ///M3 CSL / e36 que's. A DRIVERS car.

P.S. Reasonably priced might i add!!!

I can only speak for the UK forum I use, but no we do not get the same updates as you guys unfortunately. Any info we have we get from here and post links so others can see it.
Yes you're right there are quite a few who whinge about BMW's move from NA to turbo cars as if the world is about to end, but there alre also plenty of people who are very excited but with the usual British pessimism/cynicism and attitude of 'I'll believe it when I see it'.
Personally I think it's hugely exciting, much more so than the recent M versions of the X5&6. If you can't get excited about BMW's apparent return to a smaller, lighter, but still practical M car you should be taken outside and shot!
However I know it's not for me (irrespective of pricing) as the tax on my company car means any petrol engine with six cylinders or more is not an easy choice to justify
Perhaps when I see one in the flesh that choice will become hard to resist!

Everybody keep in mind, the car will cost twice as much over here, so the number of prospects is far smaller, hence less talk about it.....

I really doubt we would see a delete option on power windows and locks, though I could maybe see it for AC and stereo. It should have a carbon fiber roof so no need to worry about a sunroof, and it sounds like there will be a few seat options.

I'd love to pick up a late '80's 6 series. Such fun cars.

On Elises/Exiges, the power windows actually cut a few pounds over the crank ones. Manual windows make a little sense on something as small as an Exige, but seem a little goofy on a 1er. Further, when was the last time a BMW had manual windows even as an option?

Bimmers still have roll up windows in Germany. They were on the 116i that BMW graciously placed me in when they cracked my front windshield putting on the REAR spoiler.

Sounds like Jackie Chan might have a part time gig in Munich when he's not filming. I didn't realize that you could still get manual windows. Hell, only half of the 135i windows work anyway, and my M Coupe windows don't even go down all of the way.

honestly how much weight is really saved from deleting the stereo/nav???

isn't this all a bit ridiculous...hope you are anorexic b/c if you ate lunch and drove you might throw off the balance and hamper performance.

Stereo and nav aren't just wheight. They are features not needed in a true "drivers" car. You obviously don't get that. Thank you for your great post!
