Need Help: 4 year / 50k mile service this week

Hey guys,

My original warranty term is up in 2 weeks. I'm dropping my car off with 48k miles on it and wanted to solicit advice for what I should request to be replaced or checked. Thanks in advance!

Well.. in theory the vehicle check service should cover everything but i guess it depends how detailed the tech is...

Spark plugs. Although YMMV, see http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=575851 for details.

I wrote down the following with the top 4 underlined:

Spark plugs
Water Pump / Thermostat
Airbags (recalled)
HPFP
Air filter
Coolant
Cabin Air Filter
Brake Fluid
Power Steering
Transmission Fluid
Differential
Brakes

Probably complete overkill, but if I dont ask they won't look I suppose.

Just got my car back...

-Had the evaporator and heater/AC replaced
-Had an oil leak in the filter housing gasket
-Had transmission fluid leak in mechatronics sleeve as noted in other threads

They tinkered with i-drive and I think messed with my ECU. I feel my exhaust note has changed and throttle response too, so I think it overrode my PPK/Dinan S2, but dealership just says that my ECU needs to relearn this stuff over the next 40-50 miles. I also had my dash brake lights come on within 15 miles and traction control light too.

$2,844 worth of shit, mostly labor, and more to come. So I am putting this little girl back in the shop on my way home and heading to Vegas tomorrow morning.

Wow, that's more than I would expect, but at least you know they actually looked.

My warranty is up in a week and I had it in for the same type of checks. I had gotten an email that I was due a complimentary check for the following:

• End-of warranty check
• Multi-point inspection
• Visual inspection of brakes, tires, suspension belts,
hoses, filters, interior and exterior lights, and wipers
• Fluids inspection and top off
• Battery test
• Check and completion of all recalls & open service
campaigns

Other than the minor stuff that I specifically asked them to fix like the cracking 3rd brake light, they found nothing wrong.

That was the exact same check they performed on mine. I went back today at lunch and had them fix the brake thing, took 20 minutes and ate a cherry turnover while surfing the internet from the back of a $130k M-Sport 750i.

What is crazy is that the dealership I bought this from told me unless the CBS or dash lights said I needed something, that there was no specific reason to come in. Called a different dealership and they said bring it and just let us check...holy hell am I glad I dropped it off.
