Tuned friendly safety inspection TX
I just recently moved back to Texas and have to get a safety inspection done. Running a full E85 tune with PI and PS2 setup, MHD. Don't think the emissions test would be too friendly to my current setup. Any recommendations in the central Texas area? PM me if anyone knows of a place that can help. Thanks

Austin garages are particularly unfriendly about that sort of thing, but if a deal is to be found, go to the hood and find some small shop staffed by illegals, talk to the person on duty about how you "need your car to pass" and they'll understand. Only shady places will do this because it's not worth it if you get caught and word gets out.

Do you have a check engine light on? If not, then just get it done in a county without a sniffer test. The "emissions" testing in most counties is just making sure you don't have a check-engine light on. Some places may plug into your OBD port to check catalyst readiness status, but I believe you're allowed to have 1 of 3 "not ready".

Travis and Williamson county do the OBD inspections and it sounds like you won't pass those (at normal shops that are sticklers about the rules). All other counties around central TX just look for a check engine light and if it's off you're good. What county is your car registered in?

If your car is registered in Bell then you can do the inspection there
