Rattle: Actually more of a LOUD popping sound. Instrument cluster doesn't seem to be secured properly to the rest of the dash or something. Still trying to figure out how to reproduce at will and what could be causing it.

Rattle: Passenger-side B-Pillar or C-Pillar or somewhere in between. It's driving me insane. Can reproduce when driving over bumps, rough road or accelerating and then letting my foot off the gas. Still have yet to pin-point and to fix.

Any insight/help to pin-pointing and resolving would be GREATLY appreciate and go a LONG way to restoring my initial love with the car and desire to keep it.

Okay, mines didn't exactly get fixed..followed every step and taped that 2 lose parts but still can't fix it..

I still have a click-click-click or tic-tic-tic sound somewhere in either the passenger-side seat belt area for the front or rear passenger that is absolutely driving me insane. If I accelerate and let of the gas I can produce it. It also happens when driving over bumps or rough road. It will go less frequent after 30mins of drive when the car warms up. During a hot sunny day, the sound would be almost completely gone. Could it be something with the seat belt anchor mechanisms? Something else?

Anyone got this problem fix? There's lots of ppl with the same problem, no solution from dealers? I can't bring mines back to the dealer, too much mods to remove esp the suspension part!

My car has recently developed what sounded like the lock rod rattling around in the driver's door. It only does it at speeds lower than 40 mph and I've been pushing and squeezing everything I can get my grubby hands on. I'm sure folks think I'm crazy bouncing and jiggling the car at stoplights.

Well what I've discovered is that the area where the door latch mechanism is located is generating the soft click-clacks. I can reproduce the sound by swinging the door back and forth. (I've done the same with the passenger door...no click-clack.)

Needless to say I was caught on my knees in the garage with my ear right at that height swinging the door back and forth like a crazy man....geeez. But at least I know where the sound is coming from exactly.

So do I grease it or just slam it shut until it stops? Kidding.

I'll have the techs listen on their knees next week...the things we do because things drive us CRAZY!

My Solution is:

Correction: Rattle Noise. Found from rear, suspect rattle from hatrack, re&re hatrack & apply filltape on to the rear edge of the rack, noise nor gone, found at the rear end of the sunroof, inside the headliner, the sunroof glass and check for the loose bolt pinpoint noise rr side of cassette, rem cassette & apply filltape, test, noise gone.

Have this one. Has anyone on here had the stalk replaced by the dealer? Seems like I may have to fight with them to get it done, I'm sure those stalks are not cheap.

I've had mine replaced. Had it in on a few occasions to ID rattles with no success, once I found it I had one of my wife's tiny, clear hair ties around it. Setup the apt, pointing out the rattle, they replaced it with no questions asked. Not cheap...~$500, and requires reprogramming. At least one rattle fixed.

I have this one. Could not figure out what was rattling until I saw this thread. Thanks!

Dealer said the entire cruise control unit has to be replaced, parts on order, will arrive next week.

Rattle: Passenger side underneath the right side of the seat near where the power seat buttons are. Rattle does not go away.

Cause: Plastic on plastic rattling

Solution: I dont know. Maybe remove the seat?

I had a 3-series E90 and no rattles at all. The 1-series is poor building quality end yes it is the cheapest Bimmer. It's gotta come from somewhere ...

To give you guys some hope i was a formally extremely annoyed poster in both of the Rattle threads and I'm pleased to report that they all went away on their own. (I did have my dash replaced for the airbag indentation problem but the dash rattle was still there for a few weeks afterward)

Can you elaborate a bit more on what the rattle/sound was? I've got a light, plasticky buzz that sounds like its coming from around the area towards the drivers' side of the sunroof. Basically, right over my head. Pushing on the headliner around the grab handle area makes it go away. Pushing on the sunroof panel/trim does nothing. Have had it in twice now and they keep shimming the A-pillar, but the origin of the sound is further back in the car. Is this what you were experiencing?

This rattle sound is driving me crazy...rattle is coming from armrest, rear side, ashy tray, dashboard.

The SH*T thing is I went to dealer for dashboard rattle and they reassembled it. Then Glove box light is not working. PLUS, nothing fixed........
