Good Alignment Shop in the Bay Area

Hey Guys,

I was hoping someone would be able to point me towards a good alignment shop in the Bay Area. I'm going to be installing a bunch of suspension parts from the M3 next weekend and an alignment will be necessary after.

For those interested I'll be installing the following from HP Autowerks:

Front lower wishbone kit + Regulating rod
Front tension rod kit
Rear guide rod Kit
Rear upper link kit

Thanks in advance.

You are thinking of Custom Alignment. They are good...but very expensive. I assume you do not have coilovers or camber plates, so toe is the only thing adjustable. You do not need to spend $200 on one of their alignments. BRracing in Los Gatos does alignments for about $85. Those guys even have a 135i project car.

I actually just recently put on a set of KW v3s, so I could really go all out and do a corner balance. I'm not sure that I feel it's really necessary though. As for BRracing I really like their shop and they have very nice people working there. My only problem with getting an alignment there is that they just bring it to the Wheel Works next door. I have to call them sometime to see if they actually do the work though. I don't think I want some guys at Wheel Works messing with my car.

You know, Edge Motorworks in Dublin that does good work and the owner has a 135..... I got some work done there; pretty inexpensive and quality work.

They also do corner balancing for a reasonable price.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys, I really appreciate it. I'll make a bunch of calls next week and figure out where I'm going. I also realized that I'm probably going to need a place that's open on Sunday cause I'm going to do the install on Saturday and I'm not sure when I'll get started and how long it will take.

You guys weren't kidding about Custom Alignment being pricey. They quoted me $240 for a four wheel alignment. They super close to my buddies house where I'm doing the work, so it would have be convenient, but that price is a no go for me.

I called up BRracing and spoke to Bruce. Nice guy and he really alleviated my concerns about Wheel Works doing the work. Anyway I'm going to try to finish up the work early on Saturday, so I can go over there for an alignment the same day.

Thanks for the help guys.

Well if you haven't done it yet, Motorsport Techniques is great, I just had my fenders trimmed and rolled AGAIN there to fit my wheels... I think it's the damn PZero Nero's that are causing all the problems in the world for me .

Thanks for the suggestion, but I think it's a bit far for me. Especially sense I've got the parts installed right now, but didn't get it done in time yesterday to also get the alignment. Driving right now is a little sketchy given how far off things are.

Auto Innovations in Milpitas. Top-quality work for a good price. Probably my top pick in the Bay Area for any suspension and alignment work.

Edge Motorwerks in Dublin specializes in BMW's and does a good job, but their prices are a bit more expensive than other shops.

I went into Edge Motorworks yesterday. They did a "before" check on my 135 with the sports package. They use a state-of-the-art computer alignment system from Hunter. (Supposedly in the $100,000 bracket.) I doubt many shops have better equipment. I can't comment on relative price.

Before settings at 1500 miles, no passenger loading. (* used since I can't do the degree symbol.)
Front Camber: L -.03* R -.03*
Front Caster: L 7.2* R 7.3*
Front Toe: L .22* R .17* Total Toe .39*

Rear Camber L -1.6* R -1.7*
Rear Toe: L .03* R .03* Total .06*

The rear toe seems too low, should be .10*-.20* per side, but I've heard BMW specs are set with dummy loads.

I'm putting on just the M3 lower control arms, I would like to know how much difference there is by adding the tension arms. PM sent.

I just went to a les schwab and they told me that I have to go to the dealership to get my alignment done because they don't have the specs... is it common to only be able to get aligned at the dealership with a 135i m-sport?

Went to Auto Innovations last week, nice guys, serious about their work, reasonable price.
I had a slight pull they did the alignment, found the pull was still there, swapped the tires, pull is now gone.
