Deep tones below 3K rpm, some light burbling and popping on the overrun, and no drone whatsoever. I feel like adding the AA headers will give it a slight edge but still be very civilized.

Try plugging the vacuum line you'll gain a bit more sound and character, you might like it that way. But please post a video if you can either way! Thanks!

Best I could do for now. Car has the AA muffler on at the moment, breaking it in.

135i exhaust and AA headers is an amazing combo. 100% daily driveable even with the vacuum line plugged. When I first put it on, it was very quiet, but I guess it had to be broken in. The sound really opens up at high revs when you want it to. The catless raspy tone is still there but not as overbearing as it was with the PE. Around town, it's very civil but still has a presence. Oh and the best part is that it has almost no drone. You can very comfortably commute with it.

Video is 3k revs then 6k revs. Engine was warm.

Amazing, thanks so much. Exactly what I'd want as the car is very quiet up high and I'd like to open up/howl a bit

I need to do the manifold and software first, then intake, and re-evaluate how it is. Last step will be manifold, both from a power and sound perspective. Making small changes with time in between to make sure I keep the balance of the car where I want it and not go too far....

Either way this is the first video of this combination, will help a lot of folks out hopefully so thanks for this again.

I reinstalled my stock headers. Removed the Secondary Cats.

135i exhaust with Secondary Cats removed is very quiet. Performance Exhaust is going on today. I will post a video up soon of Stock Headers + Secondary Cat Delete + Resonator + PE Exhaust.

Wow, amazing sound! I love that it isn't obnoxiously loud, good for those of us who have to remain professional!

I currently have stock headers + secondary cats + supersprint resonator delete + BMW Performance muffler. It's great, but could be louder. Thinking of removing the secondary cats and replacing with the Supersprint straight pipes. What do you think? Will I get rasp? Any thoughts or someone with a similar combo?

I had that setup previously.

Supersprnt section 1,2 and PE

Way too droney at cruising speed. Right around 2.5-3k RPM...

Other wise, it will pop crackle for sure, fairly obnoxious at times. (Especially in parking garage at work... Hmm)

Also it will be slightly raspy @ low speed + high RPM but not as much as stock S54s or catless header.

If I were you, as many in Europe do, pick up SS section 1, lose the PE and place 135i stock muffler in place.

Now the above combo is what I would say the best sounding exhaust setup for N52 you will find. It sounds extremely good at high RPM (More of e36 m3 full supersprint race setup type of sound) it will pop/crackle, no problem. But at cruising speed, sounds like PE, maybe slightly louder.

I could not have asked for a better answer! Thank you!

I've also read that the Section 1 + Section 2 SS pieces and a 135i exhaust is one of the best. I had the Section 2 + 135i exhaust previously, sounded great but was just too quiet (overall sound was better than my Section 2 + PE though). I'll post back on whatever I decide to do.

130i 6MT with mods concerning sound;
- Vortech V3 at 6psi (it doesn't make a lot of sound tbh.)
- Custom K&N intake located at foglight area.
- OEM header and OEM resonator.
- BMW Performance Exhaust.

A bit too quiet actually, wonder if 135i backbox + resonator is better....

I might just take some time to capture what it sounds like. If I get it done, will post it in this thread

I bought a PE exhaust and I was wondering if you knew what a secondary res delete was and if it would be a good choice. I have an N51 completely stock other than the PE muffler coming in soon.

This is exactly the setup i currently have. It's a nice sound, not too loud, but it gets there when you open it up.

Nice, is there any tutorials on how to do the secondary res delete?

Just to clarify, do you mean the secondary catalytic converters? The resonator is entirely different and there's only one in the car. I have my resonator removed, both sets of cats are still in place.

Where did you buy your PE exhaust from? I can't find them for sale anywhere right now?
