For 51K starting, the M2 surely has me thinking about it. However, I don't think I'll take the leap to the M2 because I know I love my 1er already and am not willing to take the chance and regret jumping to the M2 ship.

If I were to ever replace my 135is, it would have to be one of my "realistic" dream cars: CLK 63 AMG Black Series, Lotus Esprit V8 (2002+), (2011) Boxster Spyder, NSX (post 1997), or a TT-RS. Yes, even if that means I'll drive a beater for a few months. By beater, I mean borrowing my brother's awesome E30 325is that sounds almost as awesome (with stock exhaust and engine) as the 135is OR get my own E21 320is. With that said, I doubt I'll be getting rid of my car but we shall see.

I agree that the M2 is a great car for the money, but I think all that extra grip and power are better suited for the track, which I will probably never drive on.

I, like you, also love my 135i. Think it's much better looking than the 2 series, even the M2. Just my taste. I've had mine since Oct. 2010, and its looks still thrill me. Also sounds great with PPK and the PE. Have gotten very comfortable in it over the years. I'd go so far as to say it's the perfect car for me.

Power and grip are more than enough for my street driving style. I don't really push the car more than 7 or 8 tenths anyway. Have you ever floored 320hp? Plenty of power as far as I'm concerned and I've had cars with more power. Won't be changing cars anytime soon.

320/317 can get scary to floor IMO. I've tried it once in a mountain and I was terrified. The car wanted to point in multiple directions even with traction in. On open, empty roads, it's no biggie. 320/317 in a 3450 lbs. car is the limit for my skills, maturity, and comfort zone for a daily drive. I'd like a bit more grip though (still on stock run flats) ESPECIALLY IN THE WET.

This is a really shortsighted move on whomever is running these forums. Syed is a very colorful character and his presence stimulates activity and posting here. I am sure that I am not the only one who has noticed a drop in posting activity since he disappeared from the forums.

** raising hand slowly ** ...glad I'm not the only one :-)

However, given how fast allocations are being snapped up, I'm in no hurry to trade in my IS. Still enjoying it immensely!

I've been #2 at my dealer for a build allocation for some time now after originally putting out feelers last March. I LOVE my 135is but am not too concerned about looking back.

That explains things.

Better dampers, subframe bushings / inserts, and you won't experience what you described above.

300/320 HP is, for me, the sweet spot. I can still enjoy the power on the street.

Agree on all accounts, I miss my 135is all the time. If it had a M performance LSD option like the m235i and better wheel offset sizes the car would be damn perfect. I don't see any car in the BMW lineup that looks as good as this. The m2 has an awesome side profile but its rear looks unfinished and doesn't come close to this:

If you are go for BMW genuine. Look hard enough and you'll find deals on eBay deal dealers liquidating old inventory

Cut springs like a hot hatch civic with k20 swap yo

Edit - no that's not right. I meant BMW Performance shocks paired with Dinan springs and camber plates, sitting on Michelin PSS 225/255
