You're driving a 2013, I thought the cooling kit wasn't necessary for N55 engines.

It's not necessary based on the research I've done. But I figure it's a good base to have if I decide to go further with the engine mods. Also, Metro DC traffic just plain sucks and with how hot it can get here, I want to have the extra insurance.

How much does it cost to get just the parts without the software? I am on JB4 N54 so I'd like the hardware itself.

Is that set of parts the same as Qbrozen's list: http://www.1addicts.com/forums/showt...8#post12190658 ?

I'm guessing not because it looks like you added the fan.

If so, could you please list the part numbers you used for that set? It'd be very helpful.

Thanks.

Karl.

Well, considering there is an orange envelope there that contains the code to install the PPK program, he probably just bought a PPK2 kit, not individual parts.

Also, looks like you are missing the plastic vents that are required that do not come with the kit?

These are the part numbers I used to order the kit:

BMW Performance Power Air Duct Kit
51742157684
BMW Performance Power Kit
11122184495
Hex Nut
07129905471
Rubber Mounting
67618370818

There was a sheet included with the parts which I don't have with me right now. It's at the dealer with the parts as the PPK2 is being installed as we speak. When I get that sheet back, I'll see if it has a more detailed parts break down.

I don't know if just the cooling components can be ordered by itself. When I was researching, I got the impression it was possible but a pain in the butt as all the individual components would have to be ordered. This is also part of the reason why I opted to just do the whole PPK2 and not just the PPK1. I figure ordering all the components for the cooling upgrade later after the PPK1 would end up costing more.

Yes, I ordered the whole PPK2 kit.

The plastic vents are in the plastic baggie in the first picture to the lower left of the auxillary radiator.

Ah yes, my bad! Enjoy the PPK2, you will really like it.

I did the same thing. Installed the PPK2 now, but will probably go aftermarket tune later. Wanted the extra cooling capacity for later. Figured the PPK2 kit would be the cheapest way to get all the hardware.

Now you have me all excited about getting my car back. And your reasoning is also why I did the PPK2. If I decide to do more engine work later, I have a good foundation.

As promised, here is the parts list included in the shipment.

Haven't had much time with the car with the PPK2 installed since I just picked up the car this morning. But so far, I'm loving the upgrade.

Thanks for posting these photos and the parts list! The PPK2 was installed on my car prior to delivery, but I don't seem to have received any of the placards or stickers that seem to be part of your kit. Would you mind posting some detailed photos of the placards and stickers that came with your kit?

Fantastic!

A few quick observations:

1) 4 hrs of labor to install the mechanical bits seems quite reasonable
2) Didn't see anything that the larger radiator needs specifc coding beyong installing the software - I already have the PPK1 software, so I'm curious to know if the extra PPK2 hardware (including new fan) can be retrofitted at an independent shop

Karl.

Can't thank you enough for this thread. Where did you end up placing the metal BMW Performance Power Kit badge/placard?

Also, does it list anywhere what the part number is for that black aluminum bolt warning sticker? I can't read it off the pictures and couldn't figure it out from the parts list included but know it's not one of these 3 listed 2-160-475, 01-29-2-160-476, or 51-14-2-160-474. Hmm. Maybe I'll just go open up my engine bay and see the # written on there. I did and confirmed it - part #71227619382.

Did you end up using it or did you already have it there in the middle and so didn't use that extra sticker?

PPK Badge

I know that gregthegr8 doesn't approve, but I still like where I put my PPK badge. I think Chunner would agree.

Either way, greg - I can't wait to FINALLY see that PPK badge under the hood of your beast. It's been a great paperweight all these months, but time to take a Xanax and just slap it on there somewhere

I didn't use the aluminum bolt warning sticker which came with the kit. I didn't look before I put the car in the shop to do the PPK 2 upgrade but I assume it was already there. So I have a spare sitting around.

I haven't figured out where to put the Performance Power Kit badge yet. I've seen the ideas being thrown around on where to put it in the engine bay. I've even kicked around the idea of sticking the badge on the dashboard or on the trunk lid .

Something else that came up during the install and needs to be noted on the parts list I provided above.

To do the PPK2 conversion on the 135i, you need to have quantity 2 of the rubber mounting 67618370818. The place where I ordered the parts made a mistake and only included one of these. My dealership had to make up the difference.
