Today, I swapped in a 3.23 open diff because I toasted my newly-rebuilt one in three weeks. Remember, kids, use that dang torque wrench and loctite all the things.

This time, it was the cover bolts, and it puked its liquid contents across Northern Virginia. That oil slick on Rt 234? Probably me...sorry.

Also coated the car with Avalon King Armor Shield 9. Prep was a pain, as it always is, but man, it was easy to apply. Definitely hid some of the heavier swirls, but 194k miles of paint damage isn't going away because of a simple coating...

You need to connect the AMP leads to get audio.

The beeping drives me insane, and it scares the bee-jeezus out of me when I hit 34 miles to empty and the light goes on. Makes me think the engine just yeeted itself out from under the car with the racket it makes

I think I didn't let mine dry long enough.
It recommends a week before you wash it or do anything really.

It rained the day (like 16 hours) after I was done doing mine. Waterspots and just ugly vs the preapplication. I'm kinda heartbroken. All that time and for nothing.

Jesus is that all it was that I missed? I'll have to do that in the morning and swap out the burnt fuse and see. So do you still get the beeping after all that?

I'm on the Alpine system so the subs are driven by the Alpine amp, 50x2 IIRC. So they are underpowered by a fair margin. Still they work fine.

While the sound is better, bass extension, I still hate the audio in these cars.

chris_flies helped me with that same issue...the blue wire.

I've had mine in for a few weeks and still get the beeping. The other thing I hate is when backing up, the radio sound goes off until you are out of reverse. I'm sure it's a simple contact lock tied into the reverse gear, but honestly haven't looked at the schematic to see of there is a bypass.

Damn, that beeping is crazy. Maybe it's not as loud when the unit is actually in the dash. Startled me the first time lol

It is a super easy job. Maybe have a knowledgeable friend lend a hand. Good to learn how to do this kind of thing yourself.

Decided my trans is done for.
Found a local guy with a used one that I'll pick up later and swap in.

So this will be interesting. I don't have a lift and one would make putting the trans in MUCH easier.
So odds are I'm pulling engine and trans as one.

I really didn't want to do this until later in the year, sorta planning a single bottom mount swap too.
I don't have the funds to do the single right now. Close though.

*sigh

Replaced hood and trunk support struts.
So quick and easy I actually laughed when I finished.

Car wash day.
Mostly Meguiar's products, but also first time using a nanoscrub sponge instead of clay bar. I like it.
Paint looks as good as it ever has.

Put my new gloss black double slat grills in today. Car looks muchhhh better up front. The full black grills kinda breaks up all the chrome in my headlights

You can install a custom fabed "J" pipe. This isn't quite the link I was looking for, but it has the math. Find the drone rpm, follow the math and weld in. J pipe should kill the drone by cancelling some of the drone waves.
