I have nothing to hate but I feel uncomfortable with the 53 litter fuel tank.
It is not possible to find 98 octane gas at every gas station in Europe.
So I have to start searching a gas station every 300 km when I am travelling in a new place.
Sometimes the travel will be 1500km in a day so I have to refuel five or six times a day.

My former car was 996 GT3 which has a 90 litter tank. I could run more than 1000 km in one tank.

Other than that, I am very satisfied with my 1M.

Drone? I really have no idea what drone people are talking about.

Factory carbon fiber roof would have been cool...

Ill agree on the halos, they should have been like the new 3 and 5 series halos (white to match the brow)

Other than that not having CA as a stand alone is the only gripe I have and its not really about the M but more BMW dictating the option packaging.

Reading through the comments there are a couple things that 'could' be improved but I have a feeling they weren't because it would just add cost.

One being the alacantara headliner and pillars. Has anyone ever had this done to another car? There is a local guy that had his e36/8 Mcoupe done and it turned out really nice. Wonder what it would cost? Someone with more time and motivation on their hands than me aught to figure this out

Put the damn window controls back in the center of the car where they belong. I cant seem to find them when I pull up to talk to someone or drop off mail.

first post!
just got my 1M a little while back, and a friend told me about this forum.
Been lurking for a little while now, thought I'd join and start posting!

I've just recently finished the break-in period, and so far I love everything about this car, except:

The Seats- For a car that's on par with much more expensive sport cars, especially in the corners, these seats imho, are good, but should be great. I've had the pleasure of driving many M cars (e36, e46, e86, e92), and our seats are definitely the worst of the M's
I also had the opportunity to sit in a Cayman R and a TT-RS, and those seats are amazing.

Other than that, things that I wish we had:
-Smoker's package option in Canada! (imo the 12v in front of the shifter is a must and it's crazy that they stopped putting those in the 1series/3series)
-Window controls in the centre with the shifter (oh how I miss this from my e46)
-A more driver-aimed centre console (ala the e36's)
-and as Clarkson says, a nav screen that isn't so far back

But seriously, I can't seem to fault this car, love it so much. It's just such a shame though, that with the airbag in our front seats, it's impossible to find a aftermarket replacements for them that won't cost an arm and a leg.

It will take some getting used to. I loved having the window controls in the center on my E46.

Agree on window controls having had them on the console with my E36 and E46 M3s. Also would want the updated halos and it's sad what we have to go through to get homelink. All petty items, great car overall.

Don't have an 1M but got to drive one for an hour or so at the Performance Center and each time I got into the driver's seat I wanted to lower the seat but it was already at the lowest position.

Had an issue with this at first, especially when close parking etc and was already thinking of a mod to improve this.

SOLUTION: Then I found that the storage area near the door edge is perfectly useable by simply placing your hand in it once you need control the movement of the door when its almost closed (agreed the door handle itself does not have enough leverage/control at that point)

Try it and let us know if it works for you

I will start:

1. exhaust drone at 2100-2400 RPM
I love that. But than again ive had cars with much worse drone.

2. excessive brake dust (problematic for most BMWs)
Clean your wheels

3. interior is cheap/drab for a $50K car - just look at the roof panel light, even Hyundai's & Toyota's have better quality
LOL have you seen the new hondas and toyotas? Shit interior. But yeah this interior isn't the best but it's average bmw IMHO. BMW in general needs to step up their interior game compared to audi and MB.

4. alcantara looks out of place, and collects lint/dust bunnies easily
i love the suede. It's the only thing that makes the interior look relatively nice.

5. first 30 seconds of "engine start" sounds epic - after that, not so much
Ehh no complaints here.

6. factory headlights could be less yellow
I don't mind them. White angel eyes on every car is getting kind of annoying IMHO.

7. Gas MPG rating only slightly better than (or same as) the new M5 with +800lbs and +200HP?
Ratings means shit. EPA is garbage. Good luck getting anywhere near the 1M mpg in the new M5. I drive it like i stole it and i still get 18 in hard city driving and 23 hwy.

8. frameless window - personal pet peeve
I hate windows with frames

9. rear seat plastic center console - should just be contiguous seating area instead
Hmm didn't notice that. Hvn't had a reason to be in the back seat... yet

10. lurking HPFP stigma
Drive more, worry less.

This is my one and only complaint . Im only 5' 10" and the seating position is way too high.

I use this method too.

I absolutely love this car. The interior is great, performance is great and even the Alpine White looks good.

The only two options I'd like to see are the spots seats and home link. At least they make homelink easy to add.

I had a short list for my 135, and I suspect everything was 1M applicable. After 7,000 miles, and three days at the track, I was driving the other day and couldn't think of one thing I don't love about the car.

I imagine it would be +1 (or more) for the 1M. What's not to love?

The one thing that still comes to mind, is the alcantara on the dash, but that would have been near the bottom of my other list, so I can only assume that complaint would be gone, too.

I hate that track days are too few and far between.

1 Imprpvements

Since I already own a 1 series (4 Weeks till the real 1 shows up) o have to say the internal door handle is way too far forward for good leverage and any good motorhead needs a dipstick. Oh yes, one more thing: An ejection seat on the passenger side for M3 owners with automatic transmission.
