Try test driving 2 cars. One with sport seats and one without and see what you like.

You don't by a BMW every day and since it is an expensive car already, I wouldn't mind the 650 EUR extra. The more since the sport seats are worth every cent of it! I test drove an E91 with sports seats from the dealer and afterwards drove the E90 of a friend of mine with standards. Believe me, the difference is huge!
I would also consider the leather instead of the leatherette (again: what is the difference on the total price of the car + it will certainly increase re-sale value). I also started with standard seats with half cloth-half leather and ended up with full leather sport ones. Not one second of regret! The extra EUR spent are easily forgotten once you drive your E90!!! |

Thanks again for all your replies!
It is good to have lots of feedback from E90 owners! As I did not had a chance to see the sport seats before it was difficult to know what to decide. You were very convincing so I found a way to stop by a car dealer this evening and was able to try the sport seats. It is true that this seams to be a good option, it is more confortable and have a nice look and features. I drive a lot every day (about 130km) and it might be nice to have more confort So finally I did call my dealer and got the sport seat added to my car order for 590 Euros instead of 650 I think I made the good choice, otherwise after all you have said if I would not have take the sport seats I would have always ask myself if it was not a mistake...

In Canada/US cars, if you get the sport seats, do they come with manual adjustments?
If you get the premium package with the electric seats and the sport package, are the sport seats then power? |

Sport seats = Sports Package = lower height, sport seats, sport steering wheel, 17/18" rims......does that answer your question?

I test drove both and really prefer the sport seats. That is a lot of money though. As far as switching to leather? I wouldn't bother. Probably get better wear out of non leather seats. I loved my MBTex in my Mercedes. It wore like iron and looked great.

i had sports seats in my e36 325i coupe. the lateral support was not bad and enjoyed the thigh support. got tired of its ordinary looks and retrofitted original m3 coupe leather bucket seats from Quarry motors breakers, sheffield. those were in my opinion, the best looking and sporty seats with adjustable head rests. hope new e92 m3 coupe has proper buckets like e36 m3 coupe , as new audi s4 has the meanest seats so far in its class.

I say get the sport seats. I could feel the difference.
But really YOU should sit in both and see if you feel the difference. Then you can ask yourself if its worth the extra $$$. In Canada it comes as a part of the sport package and you dont have the option of just paying extra for the seats. It would be nice if they offerred that as an option alone.

I like the regular seats and I never had trouble with them on long drives as well...

Wow this has certainly raised a lot of passion !
I think if you are of athletic frame (rather than bought rather too many MacD's) then the sports seats are better mainly because of their adjustability. Particularly the ability to change the tilt of the seat squab. The extending thigh rest then comes into its own. However, I stand by my original comments regarding comfort. The standard seats are still very good and comparing the previous sports seats I had and the new standard ones - and I do drive for up to 4 hours at a time, then I don't think there's a lot in it. The MSports package is nice. The car looks better and the seats as we have all discussed are better too, you get the nicer wheel but you also get that very hard suspension and in my opinion, this is one thing that stops me buying the sports model. Its fine if you are in Germany but on British roads it is rather harsh and the one thing I asbolutely hated about my e46 330 Sport was the suspension which just picked up every grain of sand in the road and translated it into the cabin. The e90 is a bit better that the e46, but benefit is very marginal in my opinion and I do drive my car quite hard and in a country that has lots of sweeping bends, roubabouts and roads to test the handling |
