That's my opinion. Chrome on white just doesn't look right to me. I think it's the lack of contrast.
Are you in Portland? If so I was up in your neck of the woods over Labor Day. Got stuck for while wine tasting at TeSolAria winery and also the Iconic bar. Stuck in a good way that is lol!!

I am but not downtown. I'm out towards the Gorge in Boring. The Willamette Valley and particularly the Yamhill Valley have really become a premier wine grape growing location. My dad's side of the family is from the Yamhill area and my grandparents old house is now a winery.

So far have had the ZMP, Jaffster, Performance alcantara, ZHP, and now this Motorsport Golf Ball that IND currently has in stock for a pretty good price. My trans feels pretty notchy in comparison to other N54 manuals so I've been through two different short shift kits and all those knobs for the best feel.

The golf ball is pressure fit, not the clip that the standard knobs use. Feels much more solid because it contacts the entire lever whereas the standard knobs probably have a little play. It is maybe just lighter than the ZMP, but I feel like it has more weight than the ZHP knob when in actual use.

We will, of course, require photos before and after. Good luck with it-should look amazing. Where did you get the kit, and is 2.5k with paint and installed?

Crossed the 50,000km (31k mls) mark. Forgot to take a photo.

Now driving with some weird clutch squeak, too.

This thing has no chill and it's making me nervous.

Mine really acted weird the other night. Went out for a midnight drive and got the yellow half engine light (which went on and off a couple of times) and the car started choking and stuttering and jerking, like it was going to stall. Then it did stall twice.

Scanned for codes and these popped up: P0171 system too lean (bank 1) and P10D9 fuel rail sensor 'A' signal stuck.

Cleared the codes and tried to start it again and it died a couple more times. This was last week and now the car has been running fine ever since.

BMWs... gotta love 'em. lol

Did the same thing as you up until about 74,000 miles then finally gave in, replaced everything and stopped running on borrowed time. Godspeed sir!

Hit 90,000km...

Think it might be time to look into the carbon cleaning in the near future. I'm scared to see how much is built up =\

Got the stuff to do the intake valve cleaning too- don't think mine have ever been done. Again, waiting on cooler weather to dive into the PM work.

Also have a set of WL RSFB inserts to..., erm..., insert.

If you have an N55, I believe that the walnut blasting method for carbon cleaning is not required. Only the N54 motors were susceptible to carbon build up.

If I'm wrong, someone please correct me.

I've read that any motor with direct injection is susceptible to carbon build up.

I've been on DI for just over a decade now, and tuning them for most of that time.

By their core design DI engines will always need special treatment for the intake valves- Port injection constantly washes the intake valves with fuel, direct injection does not. Steps can be taken to mitigate the symptoms, and the N55 is indeed one of the better examples, but even with PI or Meth spraying during WOT use, or very clean & well designed PCV and/or EGR systems, any DI engine will eventually accumulate build up on the intake valves.

So, some will need cleaning as early as 40K miles, others can see 60 or 70K, even others may get 100K, but all of em will need cleaning eventually.
