lines

First off, nice job! You've got some amazing photochop skills. However, I think the reason myself and a couple others think something is 'off' is because of the parallel lines with the top of the bumper cover and the cooler / brake duct inlets getting pinched in your rendering and making the whole lower grille area look small. In the attached image I have those shapes marked in green (obviously the viewing angle plays a role in all this, too). Of course, I don't have the skills to put it all together, but in case you do...

Firstly, great work. Your renders are fantastic.

Scott has said previously that the front lower intake is more trapezoial which could be accentuated by deepening it as suggested it. There was a magazine render scan which I think had this about right.

And since the reveal Scott has also suggested that the intakes are also larger than the M3.

Finally I swear I can see a hidden hood bulge in the videos. Especially the CCA speech by Dr Kay (You Tube and Bimmerfile). About 8-9 minutes in.

Thanks again.

Mark.

look at the main photo i keep reposting the updated versions. i slanted that area a bit i didnt want to over do it because of the position of the car, the real photo is taken a bit higher up so the lines look pointed downward where as my render is more of a straight ahead shot so the lines dont slant down as much. get what i mean?

the hood buldge you see is the middle that is rounder looking, like it pops up higher and not flat and boring like the original 1 series hood but surely not a dome buldge like the M3

I completely understand your thinking and I'm not implying that I'm any more correct than you are! My thinking is that the perfectly straight dimension of the lower intakes either cause a perceived lack of depth, or the upturn in the upper line of the bumper cover starts too close to the centerline of the car for the viewing angle. On reviewing the photo, below, that top line (with stock fenders) disappears and the lower vents and upper bumper cover line stay parallel (I'm sure you started with something like that).

Anyway, the tweak looks good. Nothing like polishing the cannonball!

I'll be in the minority here and say that I'm not feeling the way that looks. Good job on the render though.

alpine, great work with the updated render.

i hope you don't mind but the only thing i would do is open up the 'mouth' and 'fangs' a little more like this...

i would still bring the 'mouth' and 'fangs' down a bit more but i obviously don't have the same skills as you.
(if you want me to take this down just ask)

Infamous did you do the edits to that main pic above?

Cos that looks absolutely spot on! It has the aggression that the teaser shot has. I'd say it's nailed now, unless the bonnet on the teaser turns out to be a fake to throw us off the scent

I still think the mouth should be opened vertically more. The last corrected version has the width right now. Alpine, how about updating your original render?

Great work.
