Fantastic N52 Sound With Catless Headers
Clearly not an e87 vehicle but I am in love with this sound. the E70 X5 has a different exhaust system from the rest of the N52 line-up. this exhaust system consists of these russian Supersprint replica catless headers and the rest of the exhaust system is stock. What do you guys think?
Here is a picture of the headers in question. I would say they are worth every penny of the $235 asking price, but are they good quality headers in general? |

Considering the labor involved with changing headers, I would not roll the dice on suspiciously cheap headers. The AA ones are pretty nice, I'm sure SuperSprint are as nice or nicer. You want something that will last a long time.

Nope nope nope don't cheap out, if these things crack youre gonna hate your life.
Headers are the worst job I've done on my car. AA headers are SUCH a tight fit. I'm a string bean and even my thin arms/hands were SQUEEZED getting those bottom nuts tight. |

Someone on the forums has them installed for a year or two now and said he hasn’t had any issues. The steel itself is good quality because it’s from Russia, now if the welds look good I don’t think there will be any issues but still not sure if it’s worth the gamble. Other than installation haven’t heard any complaints about them, but if real headers are a pain to install I can only imagine what it would be like with reps. Great sound though |

Also you'd have to do the obligatory header test

I opted to do mine myself. I didn't do the greatest job since it's flaking a tiny bit in some areas, but I think that's because I failed to remove 100% of the brake cleaner there. And you see the heatshield on the engine mount? Either cut or bend it B E F O R E you install the new headers. I had to get a large flathead and jam it in there to get clearance between the two pieces. I got a few mm of daylight between them now - just enough to not touch even when everything's hot and fully expanded.
