Ok, a bit of a garage queen.....However, I've only had her for 6 weeks. But, I work from home and have a X5 I daily.....so, Miles will generally be acquired on the weekends out in wine country 🍷 😎

Well, against my wife's advice, I've purchased yet another 1M. This is #4, with two in the garage now. Latest mileage 1M: 1289 as of today.

Ah, the dangers of writing. I have owned four 1M's, but currently only have two. One with ~3,500 miles and the latest with 1289 (exact mileage I know as I just bought it two days ago). My apologies for not being clear.
Both VO, full optioned. Both perfect cars (no dings/chips or scratches anywhere). |

Since I live in Atlanta, a DD is out of the question. The cars would be destroyed in just days. Constant construction, gravel, garbage, refrigerators in the road, potholes, ladders flying off trucks, and the list goes on and on. Now that I have two in the garage, I will keep the lower mileage one very safe, while driving the other one the weekends.
Funny story with the very first I owned. I was sooooo careful and nervous about driving it, and one day I took it out for a 5 minute spin. Came to a stop-light and just then a flock of geese flew over and covered my car with poop! What are the odds! I'll start a new thread about bizarre events that happened to our cars! |

Specs are VO, full standard load out with a few extras: BMS dual cone intake, ER CP with Tial BOV, BMS 2” silicons inlets, G5JB4 kit with BT connect, Forge FMIC, AR ceramic coated DPs with resonators, Akrapovic full EVO titanium exhaust, Fuel-it stage 2+ LPFP with 750cc port injection rail & MHD BEF. Currently tuned to 16 psi pump, but hoping to set up for full e85 custom tune once I return from my next deployment. I’m in the military and lived on either the other side of the country or abroad the past 8 years. Was lucky enough to have my parents take watch over it while away. When I moved back to the states a little less than 2 years ago, I was working logistics to collect it and finally did in October. Installed most of the go fast bits over the past 500 miles. All in all it’s more of a weekend driver with my work hours and inclement weather in WA, but I also have a 2008 135i automatic that I intend to spec up as well. |

Doug, I don't even know you but let me tell you from experience, don't sell it. I sold my first, then my second and regretted it immediately. Borrow money, have your wife get a second job, sell lemonade, steal your parents bank account, whatever you have to do, but do not sell the car. If you do, you'll be back here soon, as I was, paying much more for an identical car. Plus you'll forever feel that you are missing something special.

Yea, I need help. I know. But when I drive it, all I do is look in the rear view mirror worried about someone hitting me. It is turning into something I'm afraid to touch. And I do love my M3 -it is not like I hate my DD. But I will agree, when I fire up the 1M, it is really special.

Doug, I am also a cautious driver. The reason is that things seem to always happen to me, people following too close, gravel tuck turns over in front of me, flock of geese whatever. That being said, and believe me I know, just owning one of these cars is a rare and awesome thing. When I decided to get back into them, after selling my 2nd one, it was a chore that I wished I could have avoided. You will never regret keeping it, but take it from me, once it's gone, it's gone.
The car is so unique, is supplants the Z8 and most all other BMW's as a collectible, DD or whatever. I have yet to drive mine (any of them) and not have people come up and start asking questions. Even as a DD these cars are great investments as most if not all can be sold for the original MSRP or thereabouts. Much like our friend from Canada, I decided (with a little help from inheritance) to find the lowest mileage 1M available as my car to appreciate, while feeling a bit more free to drive the other. So, what you really need to do is buy a second one. Start looking! |
