To rotate or not?

I have 2008 128i with pirellis on it. I've been told it is pointless to rotate these tires (side to side ) since they are different sizes.
Is this true or do I need to keep rotating ?

You can't rotate a staggered set of wheels. If you just take the wheels off and mount them on the opposite side you will have the treads going the wrong way. Some people go to a square set up and then they can rotate them.

The OEM Pirelli's have a symmetrical tread pattern so you can freely rotate them side to side with no issue. Rotating can help prevent irregular wear due to alignment imperfections.

I've had staggered, directional tires on each of my cars for the last decade or so. I've kept on top of alignment on them and never had an issue with tires wearing unevenly side to side. Front to back, oh yeah! But not side to side.

Staggered directional setup should not be rotated.

RTFM. It clearly says not to rotate.

The last few guys do realize that 128i's without the sports package come with non staggered wheels and tires, right? Even the OE 135i tires can be swapped side to side, since they're non-directional.

I don't know why anyone would want to extend the life of the OEM run craps so I didn't think of that.
