It's not trivial, MastaMind, but I'm a little foggy in my recollection on that point. You need to talk to a good CA or get a demo in a base 3-series.

Agreed, the weight savings seems negligible to me as the two seats will pretty much have all of the same adjustment capabilities. Personally, I'll be getting the manual seats as I will be the only driver and don't want to deal with any maintenance issues that might arise with power seats.

Gotcha, I plan on going there this weekend, actually, and test drive a manual 335 w/ sports package. I just wanted to get excited beforehand. This would really be a benefit to those in my situation.

I would say power seats would definitely help with resale.

I think it's true that a pair of power seats weighs 100lbs. But how much does a pair of non-power seats weigh? I'm pretty sure it's not 0 lbs. The difference in weight is NOT 100lbs.

I didn't get them, waste of money IMO. Why would I want all that extra weight in the seats? I'm perfectly capable of lifting a handle to move the seat back and forth.

Does anybody know if the power seats sit higher than manual seats? Is so, any idea how much? The reason I ask is because when I bought a Ford Explorer for my wife I sat in one with manual seats and had plenty of headroom up to the moon roof. The Explorer we bought had power seats and I'm a little cramped vertically at 6' 2".
I test drove a 135i in Germany with manual seats and had tons of head room but ordered the Premium Package which comes with power seats. Am I repeating a past mistake? Only time (or your accurate reply) will tell.

I really want lumbar support but can't see myself getting premium package just for that. Do the sport seats with sport package have a manual lumbar support adjustment? Thanks in advance for anyone who knows!

I've got power seats in my current car and have ordered them in my 1er. I would settle for semi power seats (with manual forward - backwards) but since they don't exist i'm going all out power. On a long drive it's great to be able to adjust your seat to take the numbness of your ass! I wouldn't want to even attempt to adjust a manual seat whilst on the move.
However i do understand where people are coming from in regards to "more to go wrong", after nearly 6 years my drivers side power sat has stopped going forwards and backwards, i'm hoping it's just a fuse, anyone with any suggestions/experiences? (sorry, not meening to hijack the thread but i guess it has some relevance) |

No they do not have lumbar in the non-powered sport seats. Lumbar is added to the std seat and the sport seats with the addition of the premium package.

Power seats might weigh, what 3lbs more? But you also have several presets that remember different drivers or even different positions for city or highway driving. |

In your opinion maybe but for myself who suffers from lower back problems, I need it. On my current cars I always have the bladder filled to it's capacity to correct posture. I may end up having to keep a lumbar pillow in the car if the manual sport seats do not offer even the slightest support. |

I am getting the manual sport seats because I sat in them and was amazed. AWESOME. But if the power seat option was $200, I would get them. NO way I will pay $1,000 for a couple little motors and switches. Plus I AM the only person driving it.

Ahh but a nice rack might be worth the penalty. I have no choice, power seats are standard on the 135i in Australia.
