Fair enough, I've been wondering when they'll hit the streets (so aleast the 1M wins that race!).

My delivery date was originally week 23 (6th - 11th June) but dealer phoned today to say the car is built and is on its way. Might get it on 1st June. Which is nice.

To be honest Boxer i have no idea what to expect from the 1M. The only cars i have been in are the E92 M3 and E60 M5 and it goes without saying they are the best in their class.

I've never been or driven a BMW with the N54 block so i'm kind of excited (and nervous) at the same time!

Without dissing the opposition too much, jumping from a S3 or 1M will feel like all the damping and 'spongyness' has been removed from all the controls and you'll marvel at the feel you have (IMHO).

I changed from Audi to my first BMW in Dec 06 when I bought a new E90 330d and this 1M will be my 10th since (exclusively BMW - cars and bikes).

Many of us on here bought the 1M when it was not much more than a camoflagued test mule in the mags - now that was a risk!

Thanks for the reassurance Boxer.

Does anybody know whether the 1M is actually loud in terms of exhaust system/induction etc. I've heard the noise compared to M3 (even E46!) and M5 is somewhat understated. Is this true?

The interior is fantastic. It was during its PDI, so I couldnt look at much, but I am very happy from what I did manage to see.

Ordered my black grills at the same time ... £29.17 each (I love no VAT).

Only a few more sleeps left!
Nice one Alice!

It sounds good to me. At idle when cold it is pretty loud just like an E92 M3 and then after 30 secs or so it drops down (too quiet for me). But it has a lovely meaty burble when you stand behind it and it certainly bellows under acceleration. 2nd gear from 3K rpm is best. We have a 135i with the performance exhaust on it at work - and that one is a fair bit louder. I am not dissapointed in it though - just feel BMW could have been a bit braver and tuned it for a few more db's.
I am running my demo in so that it can be tested by my clients at the Open Weekend. Thats the only reason its on the road a few days early (honest)...the clue is in my screen name!

@ Secretsalesmanager

Would it be possible to have a look? Whereabouts are you based?

Did you guys put the plaque on yourselves?

Thanks.

Just got back BMW this morning! My SA was good enough to let me have a quick peek at another customers VO 1M which is being picked up tomorrow. Colour looked good I have to admit and I was in two minds about changing from AW to VO but will stick with White I think. VO certainly brings out the lines and curves in the car!

The stance of the car is great and its looks muscular from every angle; especially so from behind. The car was locked up in another warehouse across the street away from the press as the its not launched officially until tomorrow. The the car was started up and I agree with Secret, from cold it sounds just like the E92 M3. Wasn't on for long enough to hear it warm/idle but certainly sounded good. Interior is finished to a very high standard based on my observations and IMO better then the E92 M3! I was never too impressed with the E92 interior considering the money you would have paid. I was also told the plaque signifying the limited edition (Secrets Photo) can be placed wherever you wish. I think this is actually done by the dealer and not by the factory.

Fair play to those of you who ordered VO without seeing it in the flesh. You won't be disappointed!

Am in Kent today, so if anyone knows of anywhere where there's AW, BSM or both cars available if you could let me know.

After seeing the VO in dull light conditions I changed my order back to BSM, but still have time to change to AW.

Cheers.

AS - you'll be hard pushed to find both cars together. I'm based in Kent myself and havent been able to locate any cars apart from the the VO mentioned in my last post at Broad Oak BMW Canterbury. You may only have photo's to base your decision. I certainly the think the Orange and the White come up trumps against the BSM. I suppose the Poll on here defines that.

Indeed, I have been very lucky in general.

I have seen VO twice on its own now and VO & AW together once.

Not seen BSM at all, yet thats the one I have on order!

Greetings all

Have been reading the forum for a while but had nothing of interest to post until today....

Order placed for AW 1M (September delivery) even managed to get a small discount, which paid for a few options
