^^I totally agree with bozola!!!

I'm guessing neither you nor Bozola have the Stage 3 intake, because if you did, you'd really "love" the 30hp you picked up...and most likely wouldn't care, or even remember, what exhaust you were running...

The OP was talking about a PE. Not what kind of mod would make the most Hp. Life is more than HP. Thats why a PE is so great... it adds so much to the enjoyment of driving the car. Kind of like a short shift shifter on a manual trans.

I get it that you really like your stage three intake manifold. But that is not what the OP was asking about.

You also wrote the same two cents worth on your intake manifold here...

Sorry but my point still stands...the money you spent on a BMW PE would be better spent on a manifold...or 2 manifolds...

The car is under powered at 230hp...improving the exhaust note and adding 3-4 hp, if that, may seem like a worthwhile improvement, but it's not really...at around 270hp, the car completely changes...all the good stuff is still there, but now there's speed to go with it...and the stock exhaust manifold is too ugly and too restrictive with those big pre-cats...replacing it with headers will give you the free-flow the Stage 3 needs...AND the sound that even the PE can't match.

I get your point. I think spending a little south of $1,000 for only exhaust sound and 3~4 hp gain at high rpm can't be justified from the price point, but I still have warranty and didn't want to mess with that by doing mod. I might get into mod scene once I get out of warranty period prob, but not now. One can say "just mod and when you go to dealership, just swap the parts" but that is just not for me. I appreciate your opinion tho.

I have warranty too...in fact, the battery completely died last month and left me stranded at Home Depot...had to call BMW help, or whatever it's called, and they came and towed it to the dealer...turns out my service advisor had a 128...I told him it had a Stage 3 and headers, but please do what you can for me...he said no problem, and asked if he could take it for a spin when they got it fixed; I said sure, go enjoy yourself, just warm it up...well, a few days later when I went to pick it up, the service advisor came out, smiling and shaking his head, "That thing is sick!" he told me... I got a new battery, new wipers, and they changed the oil (I had just changed it 2 months ago)...and there was no charge...

Do you have a tune with your manifold and headers? I am considering this, but don't want to live without my car for a month if I have to ship my puter in to be reprogrammed. I know AA offers the programmer at a extra cost. Adding the manifold, headers and tune will still be some $$$$. The car still feels quick to me at 230 with the PE. Is it worth it?

Yes, you need a flash to work the DISA valves...your car already has the connectors for the DISA valves, you can see them just sitting there in little holders on your intake, just waiting to give you 30+hp, 40 with headers...

You're at a disadvantage being in Guam...I have an AA dealer 3 miles from me. Your best bet is to probably send in your computer...hey, you can rent a moped or ride a bike for a week or two. (I ride my road bike 40-60 miles a week.)

Is the stock 128 quick? yes

Is the 40hp worth the $3k and some headaches? yes...the engine is now more equal to the very excellent chassis. Added bonus: a mean, serious, and expensive exhaust sound...
