It's a gps lap timer with user settable splits and lots. Of other things like integration with Google earth and Twitter. Seems like it picked up lap times pretty accurately and was no hassle while at the track. I turned it on before putting on my helmet, stuck it in the center storage bin and forgot about it until pitting in.

I want something that accurately plots your laps out on a graph so you can compare run-to-run and see where you lost/picked up time, etc. I found one a while back, but I question the accuracy since phone GPS are still only accurate to within a few meters (AFAIK). That few meters is what I'm concerned with!

the app tracks gps position every 1 second. i don't think it was accurate enough to be able to see lap vs. lap positions at every spot along the track. for lap times it was great. it can connect to an external gps (?), but i haven't explored that feature yet(nor do i have an external gps to connect to it).
what products have you been looking at? what do they cost?

Not really in the same category but there is one called "aCar" on the android market. Tracks maintenance, fuel, mileage, exepenses etc. You can also set service reminders.

I used it at a timed event at Lime Rock and the lap times were pretty close to my actual times shown by the transponder. I've used it for autocross as well, and it seemed to be a second or so too fast compared to the race timer.

Would you say it's close to reality AND is consistent with it's timing? For example, if the app is consistently off by 1 second of "official time", that is ok with me, if it's varying from official time by 1-10 seconds on different laps, then it's less useful.
How did you set it up for autocross? Did the autocross event position the start/finish line at the same gps location?

Found the bookmark I had to one I found a while ago. Looks pretty decent, anyone willing to try this one out (I has no iPhone)?:

for iphone users there is an app called dynolicious. got decent reviews by evo mag. for the serious minded there is v-box. it will plot 10 times per second and you will get the software to compare every little bit of information your hearts desire. entry model cost $450. must have for the analytically minded

The TrackMaster website recommends a Qstarz BT-Q818X BT GPS unit that runs in "5Hz" mode (it records info 5x per second, about 1/2 what a v-box can). Qstarz also makes the BT-Q818XT, a 10 hz unit, but it's not mentioned by Trackmaster's website
Qstarz BT-Q818X BT GPS is $69.95 on amazon (recommended on Trackmaster website). QSTARZ BT-Q818XT is $79.95 on amazon I'll try it out, but might not get to the track again until next spring. woah, that's depressing :-(

http://trackmaster.trackaroo.com/store In the forums, the trackmaster mod states to just go for the 5 hz model, not to bother with the 10 hz model: http://trackmaster.trackaroo.com/for...ds%3Dgps%2B5hz
