Resale.
I feel as if I'm being forced out of the 1M due to my mileage rising excessively, I've done 18k in 10 months of ownership. Car is currently at 36.5k but I'm almost scared to keep using it because of the resale value that's usually put against the high mileage cars. If I keep it into next summer it will almost definitely be at 50k. Worrying that it would be impossible to sell with that sort of figures on the dash?? Not too sure.
Problem being I can't find a suitable replacement. Tried an E92 M3 and although a great car just didn't bring the same level of thrills. Infact, the 1M most definitely felt quicker and is much more eager to light up the rear tyres Is it the sensible idea to sell now whilst mileage is <40k or do I simply need a cup of man the f&@* up?

don't worry too much about the mileage and keep driving the 1M up to 100k miles at least.
Still you won't loose as much as selling it now, buying another car, paying sales tax and reselling the new car in a year or 2 from now… at the end you will ended up loosing more money and maybe not had as much fun as keeping the 1M… that's just my opinion.

I wouldn't say they're hard to come by, as there's 13 for sale on autotrader, another 4 on eBay, plus another 3 at Carmax in the US. In Aberdeen, that may be a different story.
Though, I'd side with everyone and drive it for as long as you can. I think resale will always be high on these cars due to their limited availability and reputation. So I wouldn't sweat the mileage. I'm sure nothing else will put a smile on your face like the 1M. What's that worth???? |

Wait till the M4 gets out, test drive that. If you like it, replace the 1M with an M4. If not, I would keep the 1M for a long time and get a second daily driver.

Enjoy now. Resale is something for the future. By then the 1M market value will have further increased.

Cheers folks. I definitely have a case of sandy vagina haha, need to man up! It's only a panic because I sold my last car at 50k miles and it lost more than 50% of it's value in 2 years! Car definitely still puts a smile on my face so it seems stupid to let it go. Genuinely don't think there's anything else in the market, for the price albeit, that does everything as well.
Sensible thing to do is buy a daily driver only use the car when needs must. Just not using the car to get back and forth to work would help, works out at around 1000 miles per month for just that!

I know where you're coming from. I ran up 24k km in the first year... But I've managed to reduce it to 6k this year.
I picked up a 2013 Golf TDI to help offset the mileage and my fuel bill..... It's fun to drive. Totally changed the way I drive too. It's 2:1 sometimes up to 2.5:1 fuel savings, not even counting the cost difference of diesel vs premium. |

I would sell my car now but in all honesty there is nothing out there that grabs my eye. The M3/4 does nothing for me. I am hoping the M2 will be what I am looking for but I will have to wait a little while for that one. At that time I will reevaluate what my plans are. For now I am just going to enjoy it and focus on a track dedicated build instead.
