N54 strange setup

Hi team,

I have had my n54 135i for about a year now without any boost issues or anything and went to change my vacuum lines just as a precaution.

Anyway, I discovered that the lines have been hooked up in a way where only one solenoid is being used. the second solenoid Has been blocked off. But the electrical wire is plugged in.

My guess is that the second one is broken.. I did wire it up right and it seems to be fine on idle although I haven’t driven it..(due to clutch replacement needed and doing soon)

What effect would the car have by only running on one solenoid??

Any Ideas?

I've read that there are only two solenoids due to if one fails... does that mean I could just buy one solenoid from now?

I am sure there is a reason why factory put both of them in there. Unless you log your engine, we all can be guessing why not. I just replaced both of mine because the throttle plate would not open all the way and both turbos overboosting and that is how the ECU would limit the power.
