Comfort Access Problem - Help!
My Comfort Access is not working on my Driver's side door.
Normally when I touch the handle with the fob in my pocket, the door unlocks. It stopped a week or two ago. Also the remote fob unlock isn't working well either. Interestingly it works on the passenger side. Are there independent sensors for both sides? What do I do if one fails (which seems to be the case)? And no, it's not the fob battery - I tried both fobs, same result, and one has a brand new battery. Can any of you techie types offer any assistance?

Yes, the door sensors are independent. Also, they are tied to each fob in that one fob will set your settings to you, and the other to a second person. Unless you set them both the same. Likely the door handle sensor is flakey or bad.

Is the sensor something that can be purchased/ replaced DIY?

Is the Comfort Access sensor an integral component in the door handle?

The touch sensor is part of the handle and extremely easy to remove. There's a little hex head screw in the door panel that just has a small circular plug covering it up. Pop the cover out, unscrew the screw as much as you can (it shouldn't come out all the way, it has a stopper), and then push the screw while jiggling the lock mechanism part of the door handle. It's not always easy to get it but keep at it and it'll come loose. Here's a video on the removal. Put zip ties on the wires so you don't lose them in the door. Installation is the same just backwards, seat the puddle light in the door first.
