I always thought the 1er coupe range lacked posers and was for real enthusiasts...since there's only the 123d, 125i and 135i which are all quite good performance wise. The E88 is the one with 120i and 118d models.
Looks like that's changing.

there always was the 120i convertible... but I agree, the 125i resale value has just dropped significantly.

I know someone that bought a 120i convertible for less than 50k brand new. She said she had connections with the salesperson though. I think a 120i for under 50k is great value if you ask me.

beats the hell out of a 118i as an entry level car... BMW have really done themselves a disservice by discontinuing the Ti series from (316ti etc)

I would strongly disagree. Considering the fact I see numerous 1ers a day, most driven by women (even 135is). Went to talk to a man with a modded 135i and lost all interest when we said "yes its the 3.5 litre turbo..." I also left a note on a guys car in the carpark I use and didn't get a reply (left him my spot #). Sure the 120i will be bought by people who probably have no interest in the engine and just want the coupe looks - which are butt ugly anyway. Then again what would I know. I suppose i have a 20i engine so I'm instantly grouped as a poser and non-enthusiast.

Stuff the 120i. Bring out a 130i Coupe and they'd have a hot ticket item instantly.

You can say the same thing about Porsches driven by women who's daddy/husband bought for them. The car in itself encourages enthusiasts. With a 120i you'll just have even more posers on the roads.

well if its not the people driving it.. then the car itself is the enthusiast? I don't understand what you're trying to say. If "the car in itself encourages enthusiasts" then isn't this a way of bringing more people to the BMW brand who previously could not afford it?
Saw 4 mega-milfs today past scots and cranbrook. One in a C63 debadged wagon, one in an M3, one in an RS6 and one in a 335i wagon. |

Sounds like we know the same person Vin. She speaks very highly of you which is no wonder and yes,she got a fantastic deal. Good on you for what you did too,a lot of people would have jumped in their car and driven off. |

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, I prefer the lines on my 1er over a 3er coupe. I also prefer the way it drives compared to same.

The 320i in europe is actually a far better motor than the one we get here. Not sure why we're still stuck with a craphouse unit. |

Well BMW are in the business of selling cars and my friendly BMW Salesman said the 1'er he could sell by the truckload would be a 120i Coupe so I guess he will be happy.
Performance wise it won't be a rocket ship but it will probably be the sweetest 1'er to steer with less weight over the front end.
