I've always been against long distance relationships my self. But my wife (girlfriend at the time) convinced me to give it a try while deployed to Iraq and afghanistan. I was gone 9 months out of our first year together and we have always been great. I guess it just depends on how you two feel about each other. They always say good things are worth waiting for so I'm not going to knock the long distance stuff. Trust is huge tho, and being away from each other makes it even harder.

I've done it too for 2 years. We were 4hours apart, NY-DC and this was way before I had a car(easier to rent in nyc). I would usually see her on weekends and it was just good. Apparently, I broke-up due to other reasons.

Anyway, if you really like her then go for it.

Lol @ this thread. So elementary... Once you get over monogamy, you don't care anymore. You don't care about "loyalty" or "discretion." People just want to fuck and once you get over that, life is extremely easy. Fucking sloppy seconds is fine too. I only have one rule: don't raise someone else's child.
