Adding Sway Bars
Good Day All!
an opportunity has come up where I can get some 135i Sway Bars, front and rear and put them on my car. Sway bars: E82 135i M Sport Rear 12mm Part No. 33556764424 E82 135i M Sport Front 26,5mm Part No. 31356793312 My question is, what do i require? what rubber should i buy? do i replace all? bolts? get new? brackets? Also, how much difference will it make? since i do not want to ride harder but i do feel the steering could be a more dialled in. i've got the standard 125i - non m sport - auto.

I think ECS and/or FCP sell bushing kits for the e82.
I'd stay with stock rubber if harshness matters. Also, if you haven't done suspension the sway bars aren't really going to do much. In fact, a good suspension will likely lessen the need for swaybar upgrades on a stockish street car. |

i was thinking the sway bars might sharpen up the steering, make the car slightly more fun. am i wrong? i think on twisty roads you feel the car not turn in as i would like.

Also tires are very important. So is camber. There's a lot that goes into sharpening the car in corners. Sway bars is pretty close to last on the list. |

golfer23rm What are your goals for your car, just a fun daily and trying to keep it comfortable otherwise? Does your car have a rear swaybar now?
I agree with Blau if you're planning to track it or autox a lot, but if you just want to keep it comfortable as a daily then I think adding the 135i swaybars is a good way to sharpen it up. It may not be as intuitive, but a bigger front swaybar on McPherson strut car helps to control the body roll and therefore camber loss on the front end in turns. So you should feel that the car is more confident in corners even with the stock alignment.

yes, just a fun daily. so are you suggesting not to do the sway bars initially? or that doing it will help with body roll that you feel in corners and sharpen the ride up?

Your mileage may vary. If you do go this route, please respond back after it's done and let us know how the changes felt. Best of luck and enjoy the ride. |

Hi! that's what exactly what i was looking for. i don't think i'll be going coil overs or doing other things. Maybe in time but for the price of the bars, works out to $40 each, then mechs labour, and if i need other bits.

Hi all, so i managed to get the 135i front and rear bars.
Actually got a discount so was around $50 which is a great! can i fit poly bushes or will that make the ride too hard? considering everything else is stock non m sport and is quite comfy. I am on 17s with non runflat tires.

I have F/R sway bars from Eibach on stock “sport” suspension. My opinion is it does sharpen up the steering and roll resistance, but the shock damping plays a part in that too and stock shocks still produce this wallowing on uneven surfaces.
Sway bars only does not really affect the ride quality and in my opinion poly bushes feel just fine but that’s probably a personal preference To be clear I do not prefer sway bars only, but I installed what came first, still waiting on insane Bilstein backorder time |

good day,
so my car is going fri/sat for brakes disks and pads all round as well as sorting a few fluids out and adding of the bars. Road tripping it on tues....800km trip. Fronts bars - all parts covered rear - i need to get these 2 bolts. part no.: 07119903931 the headache is its only in bmw germany. and that wait is 2 weeks. i see its an M8x44 bolt. can i get away with using a normal standard bolt? i'll message a breaker and see if he has it. he sold me the rear brackets with torx screws and bushing that were decent. struggling from aftermarket sellers, they don't carry the rear bushes, and bmw want MAD money. hopefully if all goes well, I'll be giving an update on sunday and a better one the following weds. edit: messaged the breakers....he has bolts for me and i'll get them tomorrow so we should be good to go on saturday.

Good Day,
so sat morning my mech managed to fit the front 135i m sport bar with new bushings and links. He could not fit the rear. he says where the end links connect and bolt through, i need a U type bracket. Does anyone know the part number or what this bracket looks like? just with the front bar, the car is transformed. Car just feels more stable in corners. before it would want to dip into bends. Very happy. If i can get that bracket i can get the rear bar put in. edit - found the location of the fixing point. watched this vid: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3vMzD1ZbNy0&t=450s at 7:27 you see the fixing point. Confirmed when i went under rear of car, points are there. car will go back to mech when my bro takes his e46.
