Just purchased 2013 135i

Hey guys!

This is my first ever post on here and wanted to share my joy of buying a 2013 135i coupe DCT. I was previously driving a 2003 Chevy s10 crew cab so the upgrade in technology and overall quality has been amazing. I got what I think was a pretty good deal. 20,999 for 20k miles. Has every option you could ever want with M sport package, Technology package, CA, sun roof, and leather sports seats. Only thing it doesn't have is the cold weather package, but with it being 90+ degree here in Cali, I could care less about that. The only issue I have encountered in my week of driving is a rubbing sound coming from the left front of the car. Similar to the sound of a rock or screw in your tire, the frequency of the sound increases as I accelerate and decreases as I slow down. The rotors were resurfaced before I purchased the car so it may have something to do with that? I will probably take it to a local shop to see if they can pinpoint the issue and hopefully it is an easy fix. Overall I am extremely excited with the purchase and even more excited to be apart of this community.

Cheers,

Mr. Pharaoh

Could the car be modified with spacers or having tires or wheels not of the stock sizes?

I do not think so. When it caught my attention last night I didn't notice any spacers. The wheels are the stock m sport wheels and from what little knowledge I have of the stock tires, they appear to be the stock Dunlop run flats.

It's probably the run craps. I was getting what sounded like a bearing issue coming from the left front wheel. It got pretty loud where even my wife commented on the noise. The clue was when I went to my winter tires and the noise was gone. Got rid of the run craps with Michelin PSS's and never looked back.

That's good info to have. I was actually looking at the pss's last night. I'm taking it in tomorrow bright and early to see what they can find. I should note that the noise is only noticeable with the windows down. I think my best bet is to drive it in front of them a couple of times so they can hear the noise and let them go from there. My buddy took the wheels off last night to see what he could find and noticed that the brake pistons weren't lubed very well. Not sure if this could be causing the noise since the noise occurs as the wheel spins with or without braking. Fingers crossed for tomorrow.

So after taking it into the shop no more rubbing noise. They adjusted how the pads were sitting in the caliper. I guess when they resurfaced the rotors they also put in some new pads, but didn't quite get them sat in perfectly. Did some adjusting and just like that, no more noise.

I'll try to post some pics in the next few days. I need to wash her first. Monaco Blue gets dirty so easily.

Thank you all for the warm welcome.

These are from when I first brought her home. Please forgive me for the huge annoying dealership stickers.

Thanks for the kind words guys. I was told it was Monaco Blue(word of mouth not on a window sticker). In the shade it looks black, but in the light it is a VERY dark blue. I'm not an expert on BMW colors or even what colors were offered for 2013 1ers. Perhaps someone can shed some light on this?

Run the VIN in a VIN decoder. Will tell you the color and a lot more.

I just looked it up. Thanks for that tool by the way. Super cool to be able to see all the options in detail. According to the vin reader it is Carbonschwarz Metallic - 416. So turns out it is carbon black metalic. Never heard of that color until today so that's cool.

Yeah I used my truck that I ended up trading in as a bargaining tool. Apparently the owner of the dealership is really into GM especially their trucks. So I used that knowledge to my favor. Got them to come down 2k on their starting price, and got what I was looking for on the trade in. Was definetely a win win!
