Engine malfunction!
89k, 1st HPFP replaced under warranty before. Have been getting somewhat long cranks lately. Replaced spark plugs in advance of 90k recommended replacement two weeks ago, seemed to make cranks shorter for a while, but lately they have returned.
Today had the dreaded Engine malfunction/Limp mode warning come up while driving in stop-and-go traffic. Read codes when I got home and found P0012. Description: "A" Camshaft Position- Timing Over-Retarded. This is in addition to P0456 for low evap leak that I had for years--and stealer was unable to find it. Q1. Is this code a sure-sign that HPFP is about to fail again? Q2. Should I bring it to the stealer ASAP considering I am near 90k limit? Thanks for your help. |

Talk to the dealer and cite the warranty
