BMW 1 SERIES CONVERTIBLE V AUDI A3 CONVERTIBLE
Sorry to mention the A3 convertible on this site - but when I was buying my new car I thought I might have got the Audi A3 Convertible.
Thank god I didn't... Parked my BMW in a car park the other day and there was an A3 Convertible parked opposite the BMW made the A3 look rubbish. Even my wife who thought she would prefer the Audi as she used to love the A4 cab (before we got the 1 cab) said the audi looked plain and not a proper car like the 1 Cab. Mine looks like a million dollars compared to it. SO SO glad I made the right choice!:w00t: |

autocar uk did a comparison between the a3 and the 125 (I think) in which they prefered the audi.
http://www.autocar.co.uk/VideosWallp...AR=232539&CT=V To me, the a3 isn't as good looking, not as good build quality, and not as much of a driver's car as the 1 series. Proof yet again that drivers prefer a driver's car. Congrats! |

A3 vert reminds me too much of the VW Cabrio. Kind of a chick car look to it:iono: Not trying to hate, just my opinion.
I think that it is tough to pull off a small car in a vert without looking too chick like. The 1 Series is one of the exceptions for me. It has a great stance and mean look to it. In all honesty though, the only converts I really like are two seater roadsters:iono:

The Eos is way better than the A3 'vert...The Audi is SO ugly. The A3 in general sucks, It needs to be replaced with a proper (non Golf-based) model asap.

When I was looking to replace my Z4 last Spring, I did look at the EOS and would have considered the A3 Cabrio had it been available.
Both the EOS and A3 Cabs look fairly good with their tops down. The A3 cab does look a little wierd with the top up (see pic below). Looks a bit out of balance - the top covers too much of the trunk - IMHO. The EOS looses a lot of its trunkspace with the top down - that and FWD were deal breakers. The 128i cabrio was an easy choice for me.

Ha! Audi also has white with red leather. My CA and his boss were soooo wrong when they were trying to convince me that AW/Coral wasn't really a combo that anyone would want, and why should I wait 8 weeks when I could have something better sooner.
Anyway, A3 wasn't around when I was test driving. But the A4 vert wasn't as much fun as the 128 vert. And the EOS trunk room, don't get me started. The VW guy tried to convince me I would be taking my suitcase out of the car with the top down. Putz. amy! |

I think the A3 looks a lot better with the top up than down, but that's not why you buy a vert. Down it reminds me of a Saab vert which is about as boring as you can get.

Sorry, I was thinking of an older model Saab. My mother-in law has one.

Maybe. But the Saab was crap to drive. And revving it onto the freeway in the test drive, the engine flooded the passenger compartment with smog. Ick, ick, ick. My friend test driving with me told me it was just burn-in and all cars do that. But it was the only one I test drove that did. And it had a lot more miles on it than some of the others I tested.

What a bunch of putzes. AW/Coral is a great combo like my TiAg/Coral. Obviously sales people being sales people and trying you to get something off the lot.
