New shoes today!

My original PS2's were completely shot in the rear, so I am switching over to the PSS today. Looking forward to finally getting some grip again!

A lot of stagger. Suspect it will cause understeer.

FWIW, I'm currently running 265/35-18 front and 285/30-18 for my track set-up, but will likely move to 285 square for next season.

BTW, agree that the PSS is a terrific tire.

Are these an ARC-8s? I'm trying to figure out the best (meatiest) sizes I can fit on OEM staggered 18" 219Ms without rubbing.

You'll love them. Especially over your cooked ps2s.

Pss will feel a tad squishy for the first 100 miles or so. You'll feel the dif in grip immediately.

Yes. I've decided that the optimal sizes are 18 X 10 et25.

We have a light rain today, and they are awesome so far.

Btw, when the rears came off, they had steel showing through. Oops.

Funny, that's close to what I use on my E30...285/30-18 on 18x10.5 all the way around.

.......and they are cheaper than PS2s. Go figure. When I had them installed their superior grip was immediately noticeable. After 500 miles, it seems even better. I wonder why my 1M didn't come with them from the factory. My main complaint about the car when I first got it was that it didn't seem very capable of putting the power down. Now I realize the problem was due, in large part, the PS2s.

x2. I figured that out within 5 minutes of leaving the shop today, and on wet roads!

I run the same sizes/tires on ec7's and love them. I have decided to make them my street setup and am also going square for track. I was going to run 275's though. What size/et wheel are you going with? I was thinking 18x10 arc8. You think I can get away with a 285?

Yes, I'll be using the same wheel (et25) with 285/30 BFG R1 tires.

The PSS hadn't been released when the 1M went on sale. It's good to hear the PSS's have better grip, I'm hoping to see the traction control light come on a lot less with the PSS's. Still awhile before I switch my out, but it's on my list.

Haha. But only when operating temperate has been reached and within the pressure range. Until then, quite scary (worse than street tyres)

It didn't in US, in Europe PSS was released from January 2011 and production of 1M started only in March; the tire was developed in cooperation with the M Division, Porsche and Ferrari; however, I guess this was still not enough to consider the PSS as the OE tire for 1M and maybe there was not enough time to test it during the development period with the 1M and also maybe even if that would be the case BMW would still go with PS2, the choice for M3, because they sure had stocks of that tire as well as a pretty solid reputation. Plus, for some reason rear size was not available in the tire market till August/September 2011, I know this because I couldn't find it anywhere despite it looked like available in the Michelin catalog since the start.

I don't think BMW were ready to build this much 1M or they expected a real success, the way that the car enjoyed, so they probably did not consider their "almost" M car to be the first production BMW to get the newer and superior PSS while M3 was still in production for some years. That honor was granted to their flagship M car, the F10 M5, first M car to come with PSS straight from the factory.
