Oil Catch Can

Recently fitted the BMS OCC. Have done a quick search, and the general consensus (and BMS' recommendation) is to empty the can about every 3-6 months. As with oil change frequency, this must depend on usage.

For those using a catch can, how often are you emptying the can and after approx. how may kms/miles? If you are tracking the car, would you check to empty it sooner than 3 months, or not really necessary? Are there basic rules to OCC maintenance apart from regular checking/emptying?

Thanks

I empty mine every 3 track events or so (when it generally has maybe 3 tablespoons). I find it doesn't accumulate much oil in street driving.

I empty mine after 2000 miles, it typically has about 1/4" of oil, no track time. EDIT, just emptied mine yesterday 11/18 after about 2,200 miles of use, this time I measured 1/8" of oil which is probably more accurate than the 1/4" stated earlier.

Yep, takes a very long with street driving, even with tuned cars. Of course mine probably takes longer because I have a Riss Racing one which leaks and does not have any baffles to help catch stuff.

I had hardly any oil after 6 months of street driving and long road trips.

You should be fine with every 7,500 miles or 12,000 km.

Very motor specific. Check at least every oil change and more often if tracking a lot. You will get it figured out after a few times and know what works for you.

It not only depends on your driving style but also on your car in general. PCV systems are not all equal. My car had only coating after 6 months and I drive it hard.
Eventually I took it off.
