Yeah, I would call the police if a friend outside the four of us took my car. Doesn't sound like he wants to call the police b/c he is a friend...just like my college roommates. Friends do stupid things...yeah, you call them out, but you dont have the thrown in Jail.

why not use one of the apps like "find my friends" that lets you see where your friend is based on their phone gps...but yeah call the cops

If you have a Ipod touch with GPS you can leave it in the car with mobile me finder on in it. You then just log into your account and it will track where your IPOD is hence show you where your car is.

If you have an old iPhone you're not using, leave it in your car. With iCloud, you can track where the phone is on map at iCloud.com. I once discovered my roommate was using my car while I was on Christmas holiday. I specifically told him NOT to drive it but gave him the keys to move it for street cleaning.

Of course he drove it, drove it everywhere from the mall to his parents's house. I never confronted him about it because he is a good friend but it definitely pissed me off.

When he gets back explain to him that going for a joyride in your favorite thing is not cool. To make things right, he has to let you ride his girlfriend. It will take a long time, you will turn your phone off and she might not feel so shiny when you return her.
