Info on AA Sport FMIC?

I am looking into finally upgrading my stock FMIC. After some price/reputation/fitment research I am leaning towards the Active Autowerke Sport.

I did some research but have found little in terms of reviews, IAT comparisons, HP/Tq gains with FBO cars, install and fitment, especially on N54 135i's.

So, has anyone personally had experience or can you point me to a thread with some more info?

Thanks!

I have this installed on mine but i can only speak in terms of fitment and installation, since I didn't dyno mine. I had 0 fitment issues with this part and power seems to be consistent on hotter days during spirited driving. I have no complaints with this intercooler! Hope this helps!

I have the AA Sport FMIC aswell. I had a very slight fitment issue where the cooler seemed to sit lower on one side than the other, but a little bit of cutting away the plastic soon sorted that.

I echo what the guy above said. I noticed an immediate difference in the car after install, simply put, it felt like the power was a much smoother delivery through the mid range.

I bought it directly from AA. Service was brilliant.

One of the first and most proven FMIC for our cars.
Fits and works exactly as described. The AA FMIC is highly rated .

The guys at Acitve Autowerke are top notch but you could have gotten it from a dealer and saved on shipping costs

I have the AA Sport and it's very good. IATs in 90° ambient temps are in the 110°-125° range. It fits great, minimal cutting (what you do have to cut is just plastic inside the mesh, nothing support-related), and it's black which is still stealthy (which I like). I didn't log any pulls before the intercooler so I can't speak about the actual deltas.

I have to be honest, when i installed it, I changed the map on the Cobb to the + map (for FMIC), which I am sure increased the boost, and it would not have been a good comparisson with the pre-intercooler IATs on the non + map to the IATs on the + map, anyway, so you will indeed be the guinea pig! Good luck, if you need any help down the road with install let us know.
