Any difference when doing a ED? I didn't even know that they offered this. Is it cheaper than waiting for the dealer to get them?

????? Not sure what that question means.

All you need to know about ED, and more, you can find out about at Irv Robinson's website (and at the BMWUSA site).

What I meant was, is there any price difference when choosing to do ED, ie: same cost as going to get one at a dealership, less, or more?

Look at the links. There is a discount. Pretty healthy one too.

Okay. I think I have a better understanding on the ED option. Thanks for the link for Irv Robinson. I will try and contact him regarding this, especially if I can save anywhere from 5% to 10%.

I had a few questions regarding ED cars.

Can you do a trade in on an ED car? I'm assuming if you can, this would be done once the car comes into the US dealer and you finish up the paperwork?

Also, how much is the trip going to cost to Germany? And when calculated into the price of the car, isn't this still around MSRP?

More of a 'perceived value' sort of deal?

Check out this post. Then read the rest of that thread.

It answers all, except the trade-in question. For ED, you are to assume the lease a minimum of a week prior to the delivery date in Munich. That means you start leasing it from that point on. Obviously, the trade would be don at that time, unless you could arrange something with your dealership (I did, but I hear it's pretty rare).

Thanks for the link, that explains it great.

I kind of figured ED was more about the experience than the actual savings. For me, staying there wouldn't be much of an option just because of work.

I do have another question though that somewhat relates to ED;
Getting a good deal through ED is basically because the car is not part of the dealers alotment, so, if you were to custom order a car through a dealer but not as ED, does this count on thier alotment as well?
I'm just curious how the dealerships are able to deal with custom ED orders as well as custom orders.

ED orders do not count towards dealer allotment, hence their willingness to offer deals. It's free money to them.
BMW Individual orders are placed against their vehicle allotment.

Go to the ED Wiki here: http://www.bimmerfest.com/wiki/index...opean_Delivery

Since you're in NY, I'd recommend Ricki Shamen of Difeo. Very knowledgable, a sponsor or Bimmerfest, and she did Jspira's ED, the first US ED at the Welt (okay, maybe Beewang was first, who knows). I'd vouch for myself if you were doing ED/PCD since I'm just an hour and a half away from the PCD anyway, but you're in NY, so it's cool.

I'm not Irv, but I can still help.

Pricing should be out in early January.
