so now that we have some "preliminary" packages and details and given the pricing of the 3-series packages do we all still think 33-35??? trust me im trying to be positive but i think its unrealistic. i will still buy the 1-series just because for 40,000 it is still a great deal. i just cant wait to drive it though! but i look at all these upgrades for the 135 and i cant see a car with prem and leather only, being any less then 38,000 and over 40 with fees and tax. for 5-6 grand more is the 335 worth it........................

The 135 is more initially appealling than the 335 to me, but all signs point to the two cars being priced close enough that it will merit a second look at the 335... :smile:

Using the 3-series configurator, I was easily able to add $4500 in options, and that was without navi, premium package, or ipod/hd/sirius. If the 135 starts at 35K you will be in 335 territory in no time at all w/ added options.

Since the 135i doesn't even come with sports package std, I would assume we're still correct in the $34k price range. Add on ZSP, butt warmers, metallic paint, Elsie skin, and you're in the $37-38k neighborhood. Seems about right.

Don't forget the 6 pot brakes & M-sport suspension that you can't get on the 3er.
An aftermarket BBK isn't cheap... to me that's a huge feature.

Plus... the M aero body kit.

To me... there's a lot of extra bang for the buck in the basic 135

ok not that i haven't done it like a million times but i just priced a 335 coupe with the equipment of what i want in my 135i

335 coupe
premium
sport
auto
leather

46,600

you have to believe the 135 with all those options will be about 40,000. but the 135 with the upgraded breaks, M styling and accessories included makes it worth it. sorry guys, im just trying to make this legit in my own head.

Yeah, I think that in some ways this car is going to offer a lot more than the 335 in terms of performance and track application. AUTOCROSS! If you all haven't joined the BMWCCA and been to a few autocrosses with your local chapter, it is the nuts. A great way to push your bimmer to the limits, and beyond.

$38,200 MSRP and maybe a little "good guy discount" since I do business with many S Fla auto dealers....I'm not expecting it though

$35500 msrp + 8.25% and 200 = 38629 OTD. After 2-3 months, we probably can get 500-1000 offa msrp. So around 37300. I kinda want the power seats tho. *sigh*.

no way can we get anything off MSRP....unless this is some BMW dealership in the sticks

I guess I dont really know the BMW market. But i have worked at a saab and subaru dealership before. And even when the sti was first released in 04, my dealership only held the msrp price for about 2-3 months, at which time the price started to fall. The same can be seen with the infiniti G37S that was just recently released. What would be your prediction as to when BMW dealerships will sell the 1er below msrp?

I'm thinking it will be $32,900 plus destination. So with typical options

135i - $33,500
Premium Package - $3,000
Sport Package - $1000
Metallic Paint - $500

So $38-40k depending on transmission and other misc options. I would be awfully tempted to get a slighly used 335 coupe at that price.

It doesn't work like that.

The 135i isn't going to offer the numbness or isolation the 335i has. I believe the new 1 series will be more fun to drive and truely harken back to the 1970's BMW 2002. Almost every clip in Frankfurt they kept mentioning that this is a driver's car. It will have a different feel.

Even if they were the same price, one would have to choose. Making it more inexpensive is an easier choice.

Drive both and see what "feel" you like the best. Then buy it!
