I installed the Blackline version of the LCI tail lights last week. They bolted right in and everything seems to work fine. No coding was necessary. The only thing I am not sure about is the rear fog light function. Mine work both with welcome lights and with the switch inside. But when the rear fogs are on and you hit the brakes certain brake light segments illuminate. With the fogs off, different segments illuminate. Can anyone take a photo of their LCI lights with the various segments illuminated? I am curious as to what they are supposed to do. My tail light segments look awesome at night and are nice and bright, as are the brake lights. Really just curious to see what the brake/fog lights look like when on.

What is the correct part number for the new LCI tails? Not the blacklines, just the regular LCI's ?

I have a US spec 135i with Xenons, adpative (AHL) and sport options. Looking at RealOEM.com it looks like I need:

63217327276
63217327275

http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...=63&fg=20&hl=4

It looks like the non LED (tube) LCI tails are #427 & #428. ???

Arrow LCI = FAIL...

So... I picked up a set of LCI tails, tried to install them tonight... but the LED's do not work!

LCI's I have...

#63217327276
#63217327275

Looks like I will need this adapter cable - me thinks!?!?

#61122219698

Can anyone confirm?

I guess I will need to order two of those cables - Right? The BMW ETK says that cars built between Sept/2009 thru March/2011 need this cable. But I thought everyone was installing these LCI's without any adapter cables? Just plug & play - but not for me! Btw... I have a Jan/2010 build.

According to RealOEM.com, looks like you should have gotten
63217327273 & 63217327274 because you have xenons, adaptive lights, and sports options.
Not sure what to do with the ones you got... return them and get correct ones? if possible? Not familiar with cables

Just out of curiosity, why did you get regular LCI's and not blackline LCI's? just wondering

Mine do the same, that is normal operation. I'm sure it is some legality in terms of a limit of rear facing lights they can have.

Reverse instructions to install. Repeat for each side. Reconnect battery afterwards obviously.
Is it really necessary to remove the negative battery terminal ?

Tomorrow I will pickup my LCI lights and report back. I am so confused on part numbers right now. I know they are tinted but not as much as Blacklines.

I make a post here tomorrow.

Yes indeed, very confusing.
Today I had a reply on an e-mail from :http://www.leebmann24.de/heckleuchte...-e88-high.html

As my 135i is a 02/09. That's what he said :
This "BMW Heckleuchten Blackline" is the right for your car.
http://www.leebmann24.de/heckleuchte...-e88-high.html
But normaly you ned for your car a "Fußraummodul" and a "Nachrüstkabelsatz"
but i have heard that you dont need it necessarily.
When you write the "Gutscheincode" which stand in the forum at your order,
than you become an rabatt.

Best regards

As far as I know... the Blacklines are always HIGH(lines). The Low(lines) are the non-LED tubes for halogen (LCI) cars.

"Gutscheincode" is always gut(good)! Hopefully they give you a big Rabatt (discount!).

I have not seen anyone with a US spec car need the (footwell moduel)"Fußraummodul" or the "Nachrüstkabelsatz"(adapter cable). I think its bc the US cars have the FWM3 standard. I might be wrong... but I will post my results tomorrow.

Arrow LCI sports...

Ok, as promised here are my LCI "sports". Looks like BMW makes three versions of the LCI for our cars. The standard clear versions (OE), then the Blacklines which are much darker and then these "sports" with a lightly smoked color. Take a look at the turn signal indicator to see the difference in darkness.

I have a US spec 135i (Jan/2010) production with Xenon and AHL (adaptive headlights). IF you want these slightly smoked ones(edit: not totally convinced there are three version - see my post bellow)... you also need the parts guy to select "sport" under the tail light options. Here are the part numbers for my lights...

BMW part numbers:

63217327273
63217327274

price was 136 euros each w/o MwsT 19% sales tax.

Looks hot on silver

Yet strangely, look like my Blackline LCI from s*man. Can you take a photo from the side, Blacklines have a black plastic on one side of the reflector

i'll verify my part numbers. If so , you have found a nice way to get great price on the blackline kit

Yea... I'm gonna need to see some Blacklines in flesh before saying for sure there are three versions of LCI's. I was wondering IF maybe BMW just sells the lights two ways... separately and in a kit form. But from what I remember... Blacklines looked darker to me in person - when I saw them at the Welt 3.0 tour.

Here are some pics I took of Oreo's 135i...

The key to blacklines is the black plastic in the reflector that visible on the side.
If you dont have that than you have found SPORT

looking up my part number

EDIT:

yes, its the same for me

63217327273
63217327274

Therefore the Blackline Part number is the kit of 2

you bought two separate, and saved a bunch !!!

Lets do a roll call in the Blackline Thread for part numbers to verify

Can you show me with a picture? I think you mean from the side angle right? Maybe that is why these lights are not DOT approved - no side reflector. ???

Thanks Andrey. Yes I saw you post in the other LCI thread.

So the #282 blackline kit are the same lights I bought - just in a kit form. Very interesting! Learn something new every day!
