bad water pump + vehicle wiring
Last week my car overheated and needed to be towed into the dealership. After 2-days of waiting for the part to come in, I was told that the wiring is "off" and they had to get an engineer involved from BMWNA because of a possible update.
I'm not in the automotive business, but this doesn't seem right to me Has this happened to anyone else, or should I be concerned that the dealership has no idea what they are doing? It's been eight days and they haven't been able to give me an answer as to when I will be getting it back. It's perfect convertible weather and I'm stuck in a base 328i sedan! Its probably awaiting parts wiring harness. The Volcanic ash thing has caused all of the German car plants major headaches. Esp in the spare parts network.
BMW annouced yesterday they are starting to close some factories down for a week(or longer)... bc they are running out of parts to build the new cars. Audi and MB are also having trouble. The news channels said it might take up to three weeks to clear the back log of things needed to ship. Even on base they said that the US Mail is not shipping out or in - so expect delays. The US Mail gets here via passenger airplane cargo. |

I know the volcano in Iceland has been causing major issues, but this dealership states that the "wiring diagram in my car does not match what their computer shows".
A replacement harness or part is not the issue right now - thus my frustrations and lack of confidence in the dealerships ability to resolve mys issue. |

This happened to my car. They ended up replacing the water pump and replacing the relay for the water pump. Tell them to check that out. Mine was caused by a possible short in the electrical system.

Why in the world would they be shipping parts needed to build new cars by air? |

Well, yesterday marked the 2-week anniversary that my 135i went in for the water pump replacement and they STILL have no idea why the wiring diagram is different.
I've called every day and been told everything from BMWNA is looking into it to "the engineer who handles this issue is at a show in Vegas". BMW of Sarasota is full of absolute morons and I'm fed up with their lies!!! Yesterday I decided to open a formal complaint with BMWNA. Hopefully they will be able to speed things up!
