E82 seats in E88?
Hi, I recently picked up a set of 1 series coupe seats for my E88, since they were heated, and were in much better condition than mine.(We agreed to swap, and I'd pay $40) and at the time I did not realize they were different until I drove ~3.5 hours to Detroit Michigan and swapped them in, and the airbag light came on. The codes are for the seatbelt tensioners on both the driver's and passenger's side, and also for both left and right side airbags, which are located in the seats. I think that the issue lies mainly in that on the convertible the airbags are underneath the leather, (and burst out from the stitching) while on the coupe the side airbags are under a plastic panel on the side. Does anyone know how to code out the light due to this issue? I know that the airbag might not work correctly since it was designed for a car with a hardtop, but I just want the light to go away. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Did you by any chance keep the original seat belt buckle and sensor for the car? If not you'll have issues. I'm sure coding can correct it, but I have no clue how.
If it's not too late, swap the old seatbelt buckles and their sensor over to the new seats, reset codes and see if that fixes it. |

I know the Carly app allows you to code out a lot of checks, for example the headlights and tail lights and such. Maybe check their website and see if they say anything about airbags.
Or search around here for the right terms... "code out airbags" perhaps. I'd bet enough people have documented a car converted to dedicated track use that might say what they did about it. |

Did you disconnect the battery before you unplugged the seats? If not, that causes an airbag error that will need to be reset. Disconnecting battery now to reset will not help.

I did not, but I did attempt to reset the light after swapping the new seats in, I guess I'll figure out a way to code it correctly thanks
