Wheel fitment from HRE
I contacted HRE about a set of wheels for the 1 in 19". Below is their reccomendation:
"Recommended fitment will be 7.5 and 8.5. Lip size is 1.5 front and 2” rear. We can do a 8/9 stagger but it is very aggressive." Of course they won't give offsets though. Do we have a good idea of the recommended after market wheel/tire size now? What should we be shopping for as far as width and offset? |

The OE offset is 47 front, 52 rear. I'm not a fan of staggered sizing and would ask HRE if they would do a fitment, (I'd go for 18" not 19") with 8.5" wide for all four corners. JMO.

If 8" wide in front is max width without suspension and fender changes that's really too bad. I ran BBS RC 18x8.5, et 38, on my E36 M3 with absolutely no problems. Really remains to be seen what can be done by creative folks though.

They say 245's with the stock offset is a good ways away from fitting. Getting a 245 under there looks like its going to be a pain... I was really hoping for be able to run 245's all the way around... |

i would prefer to have 245s up front and 285s in the back, because it'll provide a stronger launch as well as great understeer!

I had the same combo on my M3/4 with 235/40-18 all the way around. I was a fan of that tire size, a touch tall but neutral handling without having to worry about rubbing against the strut or doing fender mods.

I come from Nissan, where I had 245/35 on 19x9.5" wheels up front and 275/35 on 19x10.5" wheels out back with +17 on the front and +18 on the back for offset. These offsets in the 30's and 40's baffle me

I'm now working with DPE to come up with some figures for fitment on wheels and tires.

The only worry I would have with 235's all around would be being able to put that power down if the engine has any mods. Hopefully a 235 R has enought grip at track speeds to get the power down... |

Well, this should give us some idea of wheel & tire fitments. Seems 8.5 will work and some are squeezin' 255's at the rear w/o rubbing. Others are going 235 all around.
Hope this is ok to link: http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6509 & http://www.babybmw.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6402 |
