.. this has been common knowledge since early this year. I reported it myself back in January or February after the former BMW M Brand manager reported it to a group of BMW CCA members at a board meeting. Unfortunately some people can't read the writing on the wall...

Another reason 1M production likely will not continue is that BMW is going to ramp up X1 production as much as posssible. The X1 is produced on the same line as the 1 series in Leipzig. The launch of the X1 in the US has already been delayed a full year because of the high demand in Europe, and the fact that they can barely produce enough X1s for Europe, let alone handle the flood of demand from SUV (SAV) crazed Americans.

This "not limited edition" to me means that it does not have a predetermined set number of units to be built.

Not we will make as many as people order, or we will make them beyond 2011. Just simply we will not cap production at a fixed number.

I said the same thing in another thread. I know who the props go to.

That is not what BMW marketing is saying: "This is special, buy this, buy this now, or forever miss the opportunity to own a limited production 1M."

They should stop producing 1M and make X1M.

Are you serious?

Don't flatter yourself to this point. I don't think the BMW M division needs any help from the anftermarket.

Sorry I am sure your stuff is the Shi* but to pretend that BMW M group would use your ideas???. Since they did all the original engineering and built the original M3 suspension bits that you decided to use on your 135i and then re-engineered these pieces for the 1M...

No I don't think so.....

The M division certainly don't need our help in the engineering department, but the aftermarket and enthusiasts(us) has certainly give them many ideas on the building of the 1M.

Would you ever have thought about using the M3 bits on your 1 or 3 series? Probably not! Try some M3 suspension bits, you will like them!

Perhaps some BMW internal documentations can prove my theory.

I take it that I shouldn't hold my breath waiting for the internal memos from the M division? Lol.

Please, they have been reusing M3/M5 parts on other M cars for a long time. Z4M carried many E46 M3 suspension pieces.

No offense, but I would bet the guys in Munich don't even know who most of the tuning companies are stateside.

So does this mean BMW won't bring 1M pace car exhaust to market? Since it's probably in violation of noise restriction and two emission standards? That is a really awesome exhaust, if 1M sounds like that I'd probably go to a dealer and order one

The engineers at Munich may not, but I bet someone from marketing is lurking these forums.

Thats a good point.. but here are the actual EPA documents stating the expiration of the engine family.. I have to go look for newer info, but i pulled this stuff just a few weeks ago..

see below BTW in my orig post i should have said N54T ( i will edit that so the info is consistent)

BTW also when you open up "cert1M" you will see that the 335is and the z4is are also listed

Nope, 2012 model year over here, as it falls into line with the other coupes and 'verts which are 2012 with the new lights etc.
You have to remember, you don't have the 3dr and 5dr hatches which haven't been updated and are still onsale here as 2011 cars, as they will be replaced by the F20 in Sept-ish.

I noticed that too. Thats crap if thats the case. A number of cars sold have probably been on the pretence that this is a exclusive car! False advertising if BMW plan to continue making it!

This will effect resale value too.
